  • Raptors disconnect evident.

First off, Unlike alot of Raps fans I see posting on the board I have accepted DD .and JV for who they are DD is above average for his position ,not a superstar and should not be a no1 on a winning team, however I'm glad to have him as a raptor dude showed improvement every year and his attitude is good seems like a good family guy also..JV is a young C slightly above average with a bright future ahead .Sky is the limit I hope his bb IQ improves..Seems down to earth and a humble dude..Besides Lowry these two are our main pieces. IMO they are too far apart in their NBA careers to make that bond, that connection, to have that chemistry that would give you that extra something to win close games. IMO Casey is in a tough position and prb will loose his job because of the situation. Casey is making a decision based on the situation and I prb would make the same decision as well, but DD is not the player to carry a team ,so again he's in a tough spot. When I look at JV and compare him to other up and coming big men he's wayyyyyy behind . JV has no one special skill other than free throws . is that a skill ? Look at Okafor, Carl Jr, Drummond, Vucevic. They all have a skill can move dribble rebound . JV is just to robotic and stiff and to think he doesnt have a savy post move puts alot into perspective.. Either Masai goes in the JV direction and rebuild around him or tries to get a BIg that could compliment Lowry and DD more. Until then there will be that disconnect that will continue to haunt Raps..

JV needs to be compared to centers with a similar skillset, like Gasol.

And even if you compare him with all starting centers you get:

actually I will start a thread.....

Even if you do compare JV to Gasol he's a late bloomer ..that's y I think the core of the team and JV are too far apart. Also the league is evolving. You can't really expect that pound the ball and hook move to win you games..Doesn't that move just look like a 10 yr old move. Don't wanna seem like I'm coming down hard on JV ,but the kid might be overrated. Maybe Casey and the players see this. My choice. Trade JV. Get a big see if we can make some noise. If not . blow it up start over. I can't see Masai building around JV right now.

you do not trade a 22 year old center who ranks near the top in the league in advanced metrics when you have a 26 year old shooting guard who ranks near the bottom.

Its actually amazing your ability to turn any conversation into a DD debate. Truly impressive. Lol

JV is and has been one of our most effective players. Averaging 14 and 10, and improved every year. Should be averaging 20+ and 10+ if Casey wasn't an idiot. Also what Snooch said.

in my defense, it was brought up to trade JV for a big that can compliment Lowry and Demar.

Disagree, JV is pretty much good-to-go, able to compete now. The question is whether he can another big enough step forward this season, and take the team to another level.

                      JV isnt ready yet.

If we make the change to run an offense through him, there is going to be a steep (but necessary) "learning curve" that will go with that. I would expect to see his advanced stats plummet in the short term, but bounce back by next season

Yup, which is why the process should have started a year or two ago.

Bottom of the league SG ? DD? K Lowry . D.Carroll. DD. All ready all in their prime decent enough players to be on a contending team and ur saying throw them all away for JV...? Because he 22? We might as well trade JV and keep Bruno lol. When JV got that contract the first thing that came to my mind was trade bait, but let's see how much of an improvement he is.. He did improve. But he's not ready . the entire other core is ready. Tough position for Casey

The entire other core is not ready imo. As evidenced by their insistence on playing the exact style of basketball that g9t them embarrassed last to playoffs

If the rest of the core is ready then they simply are not good enough to keep about
