  • Any tape on this Buyck guy? Lowry does plat better when he knows its his team last season proved as much start of season pre injury Lowry as out of shape as he was guy was a beast, and Post Calderon trade injured out of shape Lowry had a good finish to the season.

If you dont know hidden talent then you dont know Buyck!

    • Anybody remember when Derrick Martin was our best Back-up? Pretty sure there was a stretch where we went 5-6 games with him Starting and actually did pretty well. I'm not too worried about the PG spot.

      • As a Marquette fan, Ive known Buycks for quite a while now. Thrilled he's on the roster. He's a shoot first guy who played SG at Marquette. I don't know how much better than Stone he'll be though

Creates money room while we don't have him on the books. Basically it's a maneuvering thing; if we need the space for a trade, we have it, and then we pick up Kyle's option at the last minute.
            You've got it backwards.

The full salary counts towards the cap number.

Only if he is waived does the payroll decrease.

            • I really like this signing. We now have our 2 backup PG's. A defensive specialist who can guard 3 positions (Stone) and an efficient scorer who can do it all over the court (from 3's to drives). They are both young (24) and entering their physical prime. Both are hungry to show what they have, but won't challenge Lowry for the starter gig, letting him play with confidence.

Everyone was drooling over Schroeder before the draft, and Buycks did even better than Schroeder, in a tougher league in Europe. Remember last time we signed a successful PG from Europe? It was this guy named Jose Calderon, and he turned out pretty damn well. Being the MVP of the French A League is nothing to sniff at. Ujiri's advanced scouting and analytics are on full display with these signings. Diamonds in the rough, since right now we can't afford diamonds from the store.

hahaha exactly what i said, well, sort of. not as graphic tho.
where are jamario moon, garbo, ukic, solomon, AP, Forbes, AA now? Exactly.
I don't know how anyone can put Garbo and AP on the same list as Ukic, Solomon and Forbes, while actually trying to make a point.

Schroeder is 19 and Buycks is 24.

Is the comment about being an efficient scorer based on what he did in the summer league only or icluding what he did in Europe? Just curious because I could only find his stats from summer league where he did score efficiently and kept his turn overs down, but it's still just summer league. Also, I saw somewhere that he averaged 2.5 assists a game. That's not too good, for a PG, but I guess as long as he's coming off the bench it doesn't hurt the team too much. If Lowry gets injured for any duration of time though things could get ugly.

                      Joey, its Darrick, not Derrick.

You never know, he could be the next JaMario Moon for this team; a guy totally off the radar who actually contributes something to the team well beyond his price tag.
Or Anthony Parker, or Jorge Garbajosa, or Jose Calderon.

I was just trying to point out that "diamond in the rough" signings by the Raptors in the past did not really produce lifers, or helped the franchise in the long run.

Nothing personal, but this is an undrafted signing of a guy who has bounced around for a couple of years. No one expects him to help the "franchise in the long run."

On the other hand, his numbers look pretty good. His tape looks pretty good. Guy has a very good motor apparently, judging by how far out he is on the breakaways in the videos. And his shooting % is effective from deep and efficient overall.

Some Raptors fans on this board are relatively pleased. Nobody is hailing the arrival of the new Gary Payton. So why are some posters crapping all over anyone who has something positive to say about this signing? I note that they are not crapping all over Ujiri for the signing, just other board members who dare to say "looks like an okay signing."

The fact that somebody points out Buyck has what looks like a good 3 pt shot doesn't make them a fanboy. It means they can read his stats.

Swear to God, a bunch of RR members sound just like 17 year old kids who think the height of level headed reasoning is to employ sarcasm, name calling, and one-upmanship. Do yourself a favour. Try to respond reasonably and with some judgement.

That way you won't have to be embarrassed at yourself and the posts you have made online in another 5-10 years.

(Believe me, I know what I am talking about )

                              • Like the signing, other than the fact that it seems he is supposed to be good at doing exactly what JL3 proved he could do at the NBA level (good shooting, score-first pg), but with a little more size (6'3"? not bad) and maybe a little upside too. Of course, I'm assuming he's going to be paid at around the minimum, or at least come at a price cheaper than JL3. Any word on the terms?
