  • Aaron Hernandez In Very Deep Trouble

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez killed his friend at an industrial park a mile from Hernandez's house several days after the two feuded during a trip to a nightclub, authorities said in announcing a murder charge against the Pro Bowler.

Hernandez was taken from his home in handcuffs Wednesday morning, more than a week after Boston semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd's body was found. Less than two hours after his arrest, the Patriots announced they had cut Hernandez from the team.

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez, already facing charges in a murder last week in North Attleborough, is also being investigated in connection with a 2012 double murder in Boston, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.

Investigators believe a fight broke out at Cure, a club in the South End, between two men and a group that included Hernandez.

The two men, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, friends who grew up in Cape Verde, left the club with three other men in a BMW sedan.

Abreu, who was driving, stopped at a traffic light on Shawmut Avenue, about to make a left onto Herald Street, when a silver or gray SUV with Rhode Island license plates pulled alongside the sedan. Someone from the SUV opened fire, killing Abreu, 29, and Furtado, 28.
The officials said investigators now believe that Odin Lloyd, the man Hernandez is charged with killing in a North Attleboro industrial park June 17, may have had information about Hernandez’s role in the double slaying.

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one of the officials said.

The new revelations raised the specter that Hernandez might have been playing football games last season with the Patriots after he had participated in a double murder.

Police in Palm Beach County, Fla. will not investigate if New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was involved in a February shooting, a police spokeswoman told USA TODAY Sports.

Teri Barbera of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the department could not investigate the inactive case without the cooperation of the victim. That man, Alexander Bradley of East Hartford, Conn., refused to talk to investigators in February while recovering from a gunshot wound that cost him his right eye and injured his right arm.
Police could reopen that case if Bradley were to contact the sheriff's violent crime unit.

Attorneys for Bradley on Wednesday re-filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in South Florida accusing Hernandez of pointing and firing a weapon at Bradley in a vehicle after a night of partying at a strip club in Miami. The complaint was initially filed June 13 but was withdrawn because of a paper work error.

    Summary:
    • In 2012 there was a drive by double homicide that police think Hernandez was involved with.
    • Last week Police think Hernandez shot and killed Lloyd, who may have had information linking Hernandez to the 2012 incident.
    • It's rumored Hernandez shot a guy in the head in February, the guy survived but wouldn't cooperate with police; probably scared for his life.

It's like an NFL "Hard Knocks" spin-off influenced by the Sopranos.

Yet, the biggest problem in US sports is steroids in MLB, which we never hear the end of. Meanwhile, the NFL is a nightmare for this sorta thing. Though, the NFL always gets a pass. Hell, they gush over Ray Lewis like he's the greatest dude in the history of mankind. Incentives, consequences and all that....

I agree, the standards in terms of expectations aren't the same in each pro league. Baseball and hockey players get much less leeway with the public for some reason... Probably because those guys aren't usually perceived as getting into trouble so it always comes as more of a shock.

Remember this, the NFL has 3000 players. The NBA for example has upwards of 400 players.

1% of players in the NFL seem to be getting into trouble, that's 30 incidents/year.

If that rate is applied to basketball as an example, we're talking 4 incidents/year.

Footballers may appear to be getting into trouble more because there is a lot of people in the NFL.. Most of it is petty stuff and not O.J. Simpson type stuff.

All signs point to him being heavily involved in the murder and maybe two more. Sounds like the man is right where he belong but he'll get his day in court and who knows, maybe he erased his home security film from the night of by accident and maybe he destroyed his phone by accident and maybe the shells found in the rental car in his name got there because the guys decided to go shooting bottles or something late at night at the same time as his friend was being murdered near by? And maybe it's just a coincidence that he owns a gun just like the one that was used in the murder. It could be all one crazy misunderstanding... Sort of like "My Cousin Vinny".

I heard on the radio on the way home tonight that Hernandez was in the town during the 2012 double homicide and he happened to have red rental SUV in his name that looks just like the one used in the drive by.

Oh and the day after the murder he had a professional cleaning crew scrub his whole house.

The only thing missing from this story is drugs. I bet there is drugs involved in this before it;s all said and done.
