  • ESPN 2013-14 East Standings [update: Post #86]

After winning summer league MVP in Vegas, Jonas Valanciunas appears to be right on track to becoming one of the league's most promising young centers. The Raptors' season could hinge on his continued development. If he falters, they could shift into tank mode and look to deal Rudy Gay. If Valanciunas continues to blossom, a push for the playoffs could be in order.

Any way you slice it, this is a young team that's probably a little too talented for its own good, with the loaded 2014 draft class on the horizon.

They ranked them 10th at the end of the season, now 11th.

I'll take 11th...all things being equal the 6th seed sounds awesome.

Edit: Just realised this is Eastern Conferance only.... that's discouraging.

Looks like they didn't even factor in Hansborough. They'll pay for that.

...in all seriousness, we finished last year really strong. If we play that way from the onset I don't think a 6-seed is too far-fetched.

I don't think its a case of us dropping but other teams gaining in the rankings. To think about it, we only became better, perhaps only marginally though

I can't believe ESPN still has an "insider" service at all. Seems like a pretty archaic business model compared to every other sports/news site around.

It's not that bad, it's only for content that doesn't really matter (rumours, off-season articles, projections, etc) and it comes with a free magazine if your order it.

Really it's just a clever way to get subscriptions on their magazine and double-dip on the advertisers.
