  • Rudy Gay to any of the 7-11 teams in the East

The east, after the top 5, are loaded with teams with no interest in jockeying for draft position (outside Orlando). For a variety of reasons (free agent signings, new arenas, years of losing, etc.), the east has a number of teams looking play past the first week of April.

    Milwaukee:

    Butler, Udoh, Antetokonmpo for Gay

    Charlotte:

Gordon, Biyombo, 1st round pick for Gay

    Cleveland:

    If Bynum's knees are shot:

The two-year deal, the details of which were revealed by ShamSports.com, calls for base salaries of $12,250,000 and $12,540,000. However, only $6 million of the first season is guaranteed if Bynum is waived before 5 p.m. Jan 7 (and will become fully guaranteed if he doesn’t clear waivers before Jan. 10), and none of the second season is guaranteed until July 11, 2014.

    Bynum, Thompson, Karasev for Gay

    Detroit:

Stuckey, CV, Caldwell-Pope, Mitchell for Gay and filler (Gray?)

Thompson+Karasev sounds like an overkill, other ideas are interesting. I guess Stuckey+KCP+Mitchell is probably on the wishful side too (I don't like Mitchell but I suspect that Gay isn't worth that much).

Hmm...I don't mind the Milly deal, though I'd try to get some kind of pick thrown in. Udoh is an ok piece, but chances are it's just a rental and the only real piece in the deal is Antetokounmpo, who at this moment in time, is way too unproven to me to take back without also a draft pick in the deal.

Don't like the Charlotte deal. Don't like Biyombo at all in any way. I really dislike Gordon, but don't even care if they tell him not to report. Still though, would need to replace Biyombo with a better piece for me to be ok with that deal. If they're stupid enough, maybe even try to pry away MKG or Zeller. Might be possible, but not as suggested for me to be ok with it.

I would take the Cleveland deal as is I think. I'm high on Thompson and Karasev. Still though, this would depend on Karasev showing that he should be a keeper in this league. Otherwise take him out for filler and a pick.

I want no part of the Detroit deal. Expiring contracts, but not confident either of KCP or Mitchell is adequate return for Gay.

The Milwaukee and Cleveland deals are okay along with the Detroit deal which could be okay once we get get a better look at their rooks ... but Charlotte is a solid no. One thing that I'm not sure was brought into context was the fact we'll have 15 players in the books so we'd have to include some 3rd stringers in the deal too.
