  • He was a decent shooter in college, not a great one. About 35% over the two years he was at Washington.

    • If we can get this Landry Fields for the better part of the year, I'll be very happy:

It's official that right now with have a 7 man rotation. Starting line up and Fields and psycho-t. Casey probably throw one of the PG in there. Will have to go with a 8 man rotation.

K he's never going to do that. He loves to play his bench even though they suck so he will most likely go with a 9 man rotation, sometimes more.
I relish negativity and disappointment. It is not healthy. Somebody buy me a pony.

Nope, the NBA is a talent league not a skill league.

              • Most frustrating part of last night's game wasn't the comical missed dunk, or Austin Daye playing post D like a boy among men....

For me it was the fact that although the majority of his minutes were with teh 2nd unit, JOnas only had 2 FGAs...wtf is up with that? He was looked off so often by the guys on the perimeter that it's criminal. It was the first game I watched Jonas where his frustration became visible in his body language. You could see how pissed he was getting eventually when he'd have post position and never get the pass. I never want to see a display like that again.

Hate him or not, Ross is the 6th man of this team.

I'd say it's more like Ross should be the 6th man. And that's kind of a sign of how fragile the Raps season projects to be. In general, I might have to consider Hansbrough the default 6th man, because he'll probably be the most dependable bench player.

Initially, they'll open the bench up the first 10 games or so and play 11, 12 guys. Most teams do that.

I suspect your are right that they'll fall into a 9-man rotation. Personally, what I'd prefer to see is Hansbrough and Fields (if he's healthy), Augustin in limited minutes and Ross but only if he's on. I guess it will largely depend on cirucmstance. If they're 4-19, no need to have Ross riding the bench.

I expect a primary 9-man rotation, with Hansborough, Fields, Ross & Augustin (at least to start) being the main 2nd unit. Gray (big body), Novak/Daye (3pt specialist) and possibly Buycks/Stone (perimeter defense specialist) will likely see only situational duty. Acy and the losers of the Novak/Daye and Buycks/Stone battles will be hard-pressed to find playing time.

Why would I hate a grown man that I don't know? Ross is not good enough. THAT is the problem. Again talent>skill. Ross has all the skills in the world, he is yet to put them together in a consistent way that resembles talent. If the goal is to win Ross better be spending some time in the D League and not the court.

Exactly, right now it looks like if D Casey wants to keep his job 6th man is T, then Fields, then one of Buycks or DJ. These are professionals. The goal is to win. This isn't pickup ball with outclassed kids.

Unfortunately, I think part of the problem is that Casey just doesn't care enough bout Jonas' game to make a point to the team about feeding him the ball. So especially when guys are competing for spots, if the coach hasn't expressly emphasized feeding Jonas when he has position, they're gonna look him off and get theirs instead.

                              • If I recall correctly, most of last year was spent with a 10-11 man rotation (with Quincy/Pietrus sitting), but that's what happens when the team is out of contention for most of the year. If we're >.500 within the first 15-20 games, I think we'll be seeing the same thing. If they are in contention, then expect to see a 9-man rotation form effectively.
