[QUOTE=NoPropsneeded;241838]Ujiri is smart enough to realize how shitty Casey is as a coach. He'll fire him once it starts to get out of hand. For all we know he could already be looking for a replacement[/QUO

I hope so.....give us SVG please..

      Too early for this talk.
Lakers fired coach 4 games in last year and made playoffs.....we cannot fall behind in standings as we will not recover.

        I certanly hope so.
But who would take over the Raptors now knowing that we have to trade off players that we have first and only than go into proper rebuilding and only then compeate for the playoffs.

I voted yes just because I really hope he goes.

Ujiri: "One thing I can say for sure is that we will not be stuck in the middle."

Reporter: "How can you say that?"

I don't know why everyone is getting so bend out of shape over Casey's offense. We all knew he was horrid offensive coach. He was brought here to change the culture and fix the D. He was brought in to built a top10 offensive.

That's what I judge Casey on. On what he was brought in to do. His doing a good job through the first 3 games. We're #7 in defense and #1 in rebounding. If this trend keeps up throughout the season than will be more than just an 8th..
It's all about the D everything else will work it self out.

But our D has not actually been very good. Keep in mind we've played 3 teams all of wich lack a go-to player, and all of which have big question marks as to how they're going to put enough points on the board to win consistently. I can't say our D really looked good against any 3 teams.

The disappointing thing about the O is back on the issue of continuity and expectations. The O looks worse than it did in the 2nd half of last year with pretty much exactly the same team. That's troubling, especially since most guys seem to have come back with added skills and/or in better shape.

First bold: I was unaware that a coach is ever hired without a/some commitment to offensive cohesion. True that he is known as a defensive specialist but surely BC who also valued offense to a fault did not consider that in a new coach hire. You will also remember that after the first year of defensive intensity and the new rock installment, this fell off last year in favour of a bit more offense but sadly more iso rather than movement and ball sharing was what we got. This continues so far though I did see a bit more of the latter in the 4th qtr last night.

Second bold: You dont really believe that cliche. Yes it may lead to a few fast break points but the true measure of a good offense is really the proficiency in your team's half court sets which is invariably what wins in the playoffs. This aspect of the Raps is sadly lacking The only player who actually plays with any idea of this part of the game is Landry Fields.

This is the issue right here.
Why should we be okay with half of a coach?

You guys pillaried Triano for being good offense but not good enough defense? I don't think Pop would of made this team any better after 3 games, relax. Casey is relying on his starting Vets to get offense any way they can while they slowly bring in more offensive plays as the season progresses. We were a top 15 offensive team last year, so it's not like he cant coach offense, it's just that that is not how he wants us to win games.

                      Exactly.

I think Raptor fans have become accustomed to low expectations.

From mediocre talent to happy to sniff at the post season to assistant coaches masquerading as head coaches to fluff GM to incompetent management to apathetic ownership.

Tim Leiweke said we're all about championships, now lets go win them. Excellent. I'm on board with that. Lets do it and quit hoping this might be the year of a first round exit.

+1,000,000 he wants the team to grind out games. That's how's games our won in the playoffs. Their all grinded out.

                          Come on guys.
You must see the difference between two teams playing hard, physical basketball, and two teams having a turnover competition.
                          Come on.
                          It's so, so different.

Barring drastic improvements, this Casey offense will not be grinding anything out in the playoffs.
This Casey offense will be getting SMOTHERED by the defenses you are referring to, and coughing up 100+ on fast breaks.

You're right this isn't the offense that we can have for 82 games. And if you think Casey is happy with the offense you are wrong, blame him for not coaching offense not that he can't coach offense. If this team shoots 40%, but the other team shoots 38% that's what he's going for. Memphis offense was fairly brutal to watch last year, they relied on a simplistic offense with a hard-nosed defense. For better or for worse that's what Casey is going for.

I don't mind if you criticize, just make an effort to understand what he is actually trying to do. Constantly, changing coaches players is not the way you achieve success. There has to be a basic level of stability, first. Or have we learnt nothing from the Colangelo experience?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to emphasize defense: Memphis and San Antonio both emphasize defense and they're two of the best teams in the league. But Toronto's supposed emphasis on D just isn't there. Period. Simply saying "grit and grind" does not a grit and grind make.

Where is all this "fire" Casey crap coming from 3 games in. We've seen nothing but love from Casey's long time friend Masai Ujiri for his head coach - a coach he could have easily let go and hired a proven veteran coach from a strong program - like Hollins (13 coaching changes this summer) - but while he purged everyone else, Ujiri kept Casey instead. Ujiri wanted a defensive coach,he's made that pretty clear.

"It’s only three games into the regular season, but it is already obvious Raptors Head Coach Dwane Casey’s defense is back. Number 7 in the NBA for points allowed per 100 possessions at 96.1 and number 1 in rebounding and in keeping opponents off the offensive glass, this time Casey’s defense might even be better than in the lockout shortened 2011-2012 season." Raptors Coach Casey’s Defense Is Back

How much more was anybody expecting?
