  • Ranking the 2014 NBA Draft Prospects

    How stacked is this draft?

Figure i'd do a top 15 ranking just for fun. Ranking could change on a day by day basis.

    1. Andrew Wiggins
    2. Jabari Parker
    3. Julius Randle
    4. Dante Exum
    5. Marcus Smart
    6. Aaron Gordon
    7. Joel Embiid
    8. Glenn Robinson III
    9. Wayne Selden
    10. Noah Vonleh
    11. Doug McDermott
    12. James McAdoo
    13. Rodney Hood
    14. Mario Hezonja
    15. Dario Saric

Honourable mention to: Andrew Harrison, Gary Harris, Semaj Christon and James Young.

So basically, if you're in the top 15. You're going to get a really good player.

I think it's more fun to do it by position...obviously subjectivity is a huge factor, but at each position this would be how I rate guys as of now.

    PG: Smart, Harrison, Christon,
SG: Exum, Glenn Robinson III, James Young, Wayne Selden, Gary Harris
SF: Wiggins, Parker, Robinson III, McDermott, Rodney Hood
PF: Randle, Aaron Gordon, Dario Saric, James McAdoo, Adreian Payne
    C: Embiid, Cauley-Stein, Payne,

Guys I still don't know nearly well enough to place: Hezonja, Vonleh

I really don't like Embiid. I have a feeling he could be the Milicic of this draft.

I LOVE Exum. If he figures out his jumpshot, he'll be a taller version of Iverson

in the duke/jayhawks game one guy that really stood out to me was Selden. Reminds me of a Harden a little. Great vision, athleticism and a heck of a jumper. I think he's a guy who (if he declares this year) will be in the top 5-7 by the time the draft comes along.

My rankings after Tuesday's showcase in Chicago:

            1. Parker
            2. Randle
            3. Wiggins
            4. Smart
            5. Exum
            6. Gordon

I am not knocking Wiggins at all. He's off to a great start but the field is uber talented and yes, he is not quite as good as his hype led us to believe (after just two games). Exum's spot is hard to judge being stuck in Australia and he is not likely to play NCAA ball before the draft.

Exum hasn't even decided if he'll go to college or NBA next year.

Exum is "strongly leaning toward" declaring according to Chad Ford on Monday.

The only thing that concerns me about Parker is that he reminds me of Melo for some reason. Maybe it's the all offense, no defense. Plus, Wiggins closed him out completely when he guarded him.

Really? Melo? I guess I see a little bit of that... man is this draft year going to be exciting! *cue draft party scheduling

He's very similar to Melo, I agree. Let's hope he doesn't have that selfishness in him.

                      Either way, he'll be stud.

Gary Harris will be top 15 for sure when it's all said and done. I expect him to go in the 7-12 range. He's the best player on the Nation's best team and the exposure of leading an experience team deep into March Madness will improve his stock.

                          And that's a bad thing?

Melo = Future Hall of Famer.
