Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan made some popular ones in the 90's. Sleepless in Seattle or You've got Mail were both hits for my wife.
Actually you can't really go wrong with Sandra Bullock either. The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds or Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant were also pretty popular with her.
I enjoyed Hitch.. has Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James. Although I'm just a fan of Kevin James.
If you want to go really old school than you could give Annie Hall a try. It's a popular Woody Allen movie from the 70's.

Great list. Flight of the Navigator? Dragon? Collateral? Amen.
I gotta add Pulp Fiction though.
And Con Air.
And Braveheart.
And all of the Indiana Jones movies (except 4 ... that never happened).
And Legends of the Fall.
And the Departed & Gangs of New York.
And Last of the Mohicans.
And Never Ending Story.
Other than that, you nailed it! Lol

Favourite all time is Empire Strikes Back.
Favourite drama depends on mood.. Probably Shawshank Redemption if I had to make a choice now.. Scarface though is a close second.
Favourite action movie is Die Hard (also a Christmas classic).
Favourite comedy also a tough one.. I'll go with Naked Gun (the first one).
Favourite movie I see on Halloween is Nightmare Before Christmas (although I usually watch Corpse Bride right after).
Favourite movie I see on Christmas is National Lampoons Christmas vacation.
Favourite animated movie is South Park the movie.
Favourite super hero movie is Superman II (with Christopher Reeves).

Do not go to A Cure for Wellness. A beautiful monstrosity. It is about an hour too long (an interminable 2 1/2 hours for a gross out horror movie).
I don't really know what the point of this movie was or what they were going for here (it certainly starts out like a Dracula movie with Harker journeying to cold, dark mysterious Eastern Europe but doesn't turn out that way) but, even though it looks great, the whole thing is a mess. Scenes go on way, way too long in an attempt, I guess, to cover for a story that makes no sense and a plot so full of holes it should be a dam in California. After it should have ended about 3 times, this abomination culminates in a bizarre scene of pedophilic incest that is so distressing I can't imagine who it is supposed to appeal to (other than maybe the director?).
I will say that if you like eels, then this is the movie for you. This movie has lots of eels. 0/5.

Fight Club
Caddyshack
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Shawshank Redemption
