  • Blockbuster trade with Chicago and Sacramento

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m4tts22

Bulls get Marcus Thornton, John Salmons, Amir Johnson and Kyle Lowry.

Kings get Rudy Gay and Marquis Teague.

Raptors get Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng and Greivis Vasquez.

Why Chicago? They get a starting caliber point guard to replace D-Rose. They cut ties with Boozer and Deng. They get a new good and young post player in Amir. They get a starting caliber SG in Thornton and a serviceable backup in Salmons, whose contract ends at the end of the season (team option).

Why Sacramento? They get a borderline star player in Rudy Gay. They get a promising PG. They let Isaiah Thomas run the point and Mclemore be the starting SG. They cut ties with Salmons and Thornton.

Why Toronto? They get a pass first PG. They get two star players; a true starting PF and a SF that will fit more than Rudy Gay.

    Valanciunas/Gray
    Boozer/Hansbrough/Acy
    Deng/Fields/NovakDaye
    DeRozan/Ross/Stone
    Vasquez/Buycks/Augustin

    Noah/Mohammed
    Gibson/Johnson
    Butler/Salmons
    Thornton/Dunleavy
    Lowry/Hinrich

    Cousins/Hayes
    Thompson/Patterson
    Gay/Mbah a Moute
    Mclemore/Fredette
    Thomas/Teague

I'd love to see it happen.

This is smart trade. It will never happen tho, unless Bulls chooses to blow it up.

Yeah, otherwise it's incredibly stupid for Chicago. They get a starting PG, but trade away 2 of their top 3 players (sans Rose), and no one coming in is as good a player as Boozer or Deng.

And it's kind of stupid for Toronto. Deng and Vasquez are nice, but I have absolutely no clue why Toronto would have even a tiny amount of interest in Boozer.

It really is just a random trade that probably would, and should, never happen.

@charlesnba23....all your trades are random. They always benefit Toronto (according to you), while the reasoning for the other teams is completely messed up. Why does Sacramento want Gay? They're a bad team right now, and there have been reports that they want to stockpile youth/picks going forward. Gay doesn't fit that. Again, really Toronto gets what you want out of this trade, and the only definite positive for either of the other teams is that Chicago gets a placeholder starting PG, but becomes a much worse team overall, and thus negates the purpose of getting that PG (ie. to keep competing this year).
