ESPN: Alston Mulling Retirement

God ... this fool lost all credibility years and years ago. Not only would he be doing himself a favour by retiring but the rest of the league too. Good riddance Rafer.

Miami Heat guard Rafer Alston has been suspended indefinitely, the team announced after Saturday night's victory over Atlanta.

Sources close to the situation said Alston, who did not attend the game, is considering retirement.

The Heat initially announced that Alston missed the Atlanta game for "personal reasons." But later revealed Alston has not made himself available to the team by anything other than text message since losing his starting spot at point guard before Thursday's overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

"Rafer Alston, while having made contact with the team via text message, has made himself otherwise unavailable to the team. As a result he has been suspended indefinitely," the team said in a release.

Skip suggested he might just retire back in his early Raptors days after signing a $25M over five year contract. He seems to have no love for the game and little maturity. I won't be sad to see him gone.

MIAMI (AP)—Rafer Alston’s(notes) season with the Miami Heat is officially over.

Alston was moved to the suspended list by the Heat late Friday night, one week after he left the team without telling any member of the organization why.

Alston told ESPN earlier this week that his departure stemmed from a personal matter involving his sister. He still has not explained the absence to the team, Heat president Pat Riley said in a statement released Friday night after Miami beat Chicago.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family during this time, but we are at the point where we must move forward with the rest of the season during our playoff push,” Riley said.

Alston played in 25 games for the Heat since signing with the club on Jan. 7, averaging 6.6 points and 2.9 assists.

You can pretty much call it a career, just like Iverson nobody will want to touch him.
