LA should be highly motivated to get under the luxury tax line to reset the repeater rate, but at the same time Toronto doesn't want to get into the tax this year. With LA currently $7.5 million over and Toronto about $3.5 million under, I don't think there's any way that the two teams can make a trade and both end up under the tax line. If the Okafor/Gasol deal were to happen, then there would be some trades that could result in both teams ending up under the tax line.

After the Blake trade, assuming that the Lakers trade Jordon Hill (which seems certain) in exchange for picks or cash, we can get Kaman for Dwight Buycks and both we and the Lakers will be out of the tax.

1. They want to get under Luxury Tax
2. D'Antoni never playa Kaman unless he has to as a last resort
3. They are tanking and not looking to essentially win these trades

Agreed on all fronts as the reason for a trade, but they can get better value for Kaman then our 4th pg

The two things we need are:

1. size in the post : Kaman, Monroe, Varejao
2. a 6th man: we need more scoring off the bench, Salmons has not been attacking, Vasquez isn't the guy, and PP has been inserted into the starting line up. We need a scorer akin to a Jamal Crawford, Mo Williams. Instant offense.

An injury to Lowry whose been playing out of his mind, or some other key player and we can easily be on the outside looking in. Though it feels like we're a lock to make the playoffs one short losing streak is all it will take to bounce us from the playoffs.
