how about someone underrated (i.e. Ronnie Brewer)?
Saw this in the Ben Gordon thread, and thought it'd be more appropriate here.

I used to like him....but has he really fallen to shit so bad that he can't find a spot? He used to be a tough defender who didn't try to do too much on offence (because he doesn't have much talent on that end)...Don't know what's happened to him the last couple of years, but he's only 28 years old. Did he just stop taking care of himself/his game?

I've said this already but anyone as high as me on getting:
      Earl Clark
Move salmon's to backup 2 release stone
      Or for a 7' backup C
      Jason Collins?
I know people are uncomfortable about signing him but its basketball

I like Stone. Hope he sticks around as a Raptor for years. He isn't flashy, nor is he that good on the offensive end outside of the PnR...but the dude plays hard on D and is a specialist, which is useful to have on the end of any bench.

Nobody is against Jason Collins the person, everybody is against Jason Collins that basketball player, who is awful and not worth the roster spot.

Jason Collins is the epitome of the news/hype machine.

Dude comes out and in doing so becomes first active player in professional sports to do so.... By the way, good for him and the gay community in general.

Yet somehow through this ground breaking event the fact he is an awful NBA player for the last 6-7 years is lost.

Raps should look at Ivan Johnson and MWP.

            Dudes are cra cra

But a front court lineup of MWP, Ivan, and bro.

            Lol

In all seriousness though, raps lineup is set.

If they could have traded guys like Buycks or Stone I can't see them cutting them loose after deadline for nothing to sign someone else.

I have nothing to base that on other than unfounded opinion.

MWP has been getting no minutes by the Knicks of all teams after his injury. I don't know if he has anything left in him to help any team let alone the Raptors.

Besides the last thing you want is a guy like him in the locker room.

Why didn't we make a move on Jordan Hill, Chris Kaman or Matt Bonner. There is no way Glenn Davis will sign with us, he's going to the Clippers (Doc Rivers connection) or Nets (Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce connection)
Nets? You are nuts. KG made him cry (literally).

And it would likely be a minimum deal to come off the bench. Would definitely be worth considering. Would he consider TO though? Can see a few top teams looking into him...anyone who could use wing depth/insurance basically
For some reason you are correct. Most guys (like Granger) go to a contender and then what?
-Even if they have a great rest of the season, that team "expects" him to re-sign for vets minimum (look at some guys last few years -Nate R, Jamieson, A Blatche...). Why not go to a team like Raps (yes I am somewhat biased, being a Raps fan) or Charlotte or Detroit... where if he has a decent rest of season, there is a chance he gets resigned at mid-lever or respectable contract.

This confuses the hell out of me too. If they wanted a 2nd rounder, I feel like Atlanta or someone else could have given them a better one for Turner. They swapped an expiring young RFA for an expiring chronically injured UFA. Doesn't really make sense to me from Philly's end.
I believe it was also to get over the salary floor. You get taxed 50% (I believe) of the salary amount you are underneath the salary floor. Granger = much bigger contract = less money to pay

Granger would be a huge addition for us. If anything this team needs another scorer on the second unit. I'm not quite sure if he would want to come here as a bench player, but we can offer him big minutes as a 6th man. Basically DeMar, Ross, and Granger could split the wing minutes, and what's left over could be given to Salmons.

NO to MWP or any more PF's. A big that could sub JV would be good though

That's because people are acting like those of us who are pro-Collins are pretending he's like Tyson Chandler or something, which is bunk.

Let's be serious: Collins has exactly one NBA-level skill at this point, and that is post defense/rim protection. However, post defense/rim protection happens to be one of the gaping holes in the Raptors' skill base right now. We would sign Collins for one reason, and one reason only: to guard the rim against Al Jefferson, against Roy Hibbert, against Kevin Garnett, against Birdman. And he would be worth it for that reason (and to hopefully teach Jonas some of his post defense skills and be a veteran presence).

Nope. The team just has to pay up to the minimum (which gets spread out over the team proportionally to each player's salary). There's literally no incentive to get to the salary floor, as far as the CBA reads.

If we had a shot at Granger I'd take it. Other possible players to look at are Kwame Brown (size) and Josh Howard (a 3 who can put the ball on the floor and hit a few shots)

Move Salmons to the 2-guard spot and bring back Joey Graham, tough notty defender who can hit some important jump and clutch shots when it matters. Graham has everything you need as a backup 3 and when playoff comes around, he brings it to the table. At the same time, sign either Lou Amundson, DeSagana Diop, Kwame Brown, Chris Wilcox or Troy Murphy as our backup C.
