  • Players don't wanna play in Toronto? No players DO they just don't wanna LOSE!

We just retained Lowry with a two-time NBA Champion going after him, and two other big market teams also in the hunt.

Difference between this situation and Bosh/VC is that we were coming off a successful 48 win season and have a team that's young and looking to improve. Bosh left following a season where we missed the playoffs, and so did VC.

Players will come to and stay here if we win. That's what matters.

People just want to win. It's not about the city. Toronto is a world class city. Better than many other cities in the world, it's never been that.

People just don't like losing, over and over again.

not to be a downer but does anyone think we'll actually reach another 48 win season next year? seems unlikely to me. maybe thats just the overly cautious torontonian sports mindset speaking.

its great that we retained lowry, but we essentially have the exact same team. meanwhile all the other shittier east teams have gotten their potential young stars brewing. really looking to see irving and wiggins on the floor together.

Hahahaha, be careful with this line of thinking ... Reality has no place in RR

Reaching 48 wins depends on the how much East will improve and some what meaningless. The question should be with this team, can we get passed the first round of the play off or 2nd round of the play offs ...

If we want to have any chance of getting bit time super star within next 2 years, we need to at least make Eastern conference final.

We'll see. The East is still a mess. We'll see how things look at least when the dust settles in free agency. So far though, our division still looks like it's ours to lose. BKL already lost one key free agent, a coach, and possibly Deron Williams' ankles again for most of the year. No one else in the Atlantic is poised to do very well.

Toronto can hopefully win the division again, at whatever win total that may be. This is still a team that may not have the pieces to be a contender, but if we're not going to blow it up, and if we're going to depend on trades and free agency, we need to look like a respectable franchise moving in the right direction. I think winning the division is a good sign of that, even if we can't be legit contenders in the near term.

Did deron Williams really contribute all that much to their season though? I didn't think so anyway.

Paul Pierce is probably gone too, he wasn't happy about Kidd leaving. Clippers most likely to sign him according to theScore

You needed a comma after "No" in your title. Without it you're getting undesired results...

Maybe the Raptors wouldn't get to 48 wins in a season as a result of a stronger East in some teams, but that does not mean that the result will reflect like they did last season in the playoffs.

Reaching the second round and beyond is the goal next season and its doable.

There is something to be said for returning your entire playoff team that nearly went to the second round. The team that went 42-22 (.656, Heat were .659 on the season) after the Gay trade. Playoff experience is vital, and we should be optimistic about Masai being likely to bring most of the band back.

The point is that they are not actually very deep or healthy right now. Williams is one of the best they got. The team held together last year because of guys...well they could lose Pierce, Blatche, AA and have already lost Livingston. They will have a hard time building off this year, and it doesn't help that one main piece of their foundation is an overweight PG with no ankles, and another a no-D centre with chronic foot issues.

This means we can attract/retain free agents and big time ones contrary to Jalen Rose's belief

Raptors require a backup center (BB) is not muscular enough presently, or a 2/3 who can back up TRoss, like a Wesley Johnson. He can score or defend. You could do a trade for Wes Chandler from Denver and send Hansborough + Buycks + Stone back in his place, the net is approx. 3million more in Salary, but there is definite room for such a player.
