15 months ago in Raptor land
Andrea Bargnani had nary a fan
Rudy Gay had eye surgery hooray hooree
Don't get too excited he still couldn't see

Masaiah Ujiri the new GM on site
He brought with him hope, dreams and all kinds of fight
But his "mentor" had left him, oh, such a mess
Who could have see what was to come, no one, I'd guess

Ujiri duped Dolan, it was the dupe of all dupes
He TRADED BARGNANI and got draft picks to boot!
As fireworks and streamers took off in the sky
Tim and Sid sang a song that almost made me cry

Change was upon us, oh yes it had begun
We were amped and excited, oh how this would be fun!
Rudy Gay could see, his shots would certainly drop
Yes he and DeRozan would take us to the top

As the season began, it did not happen as planned
We were losing, not winning, and for this, WE SHALL NOT STAND
Rudy you dumbass why do you take so many shots?
Wait. What? He banned box scores?

RUDY CAN SEE its true, then what's his excuse
As brick upon brick clangs towards the roof
We have fire in our eyes and hatred in our hearts
Masaiah Ujiri, where art thou? Where art....

RUDY GAY was traded! My goodness to whom?
To the Knicks (I wish), no to the Kings you buffoons
I don't care who we got back the Gay is gone!
I take that back, it's not what I mean! Shit sorry I'll carry on

We lost Quincy his beard and Aaron Gray,
I was almost led to another one, but I will not, no way!
In return it was Greivis and Chucky and PPat and Salmons
Why'd I end on that? I'll go have some almonds?

We started to win, our bench was better
But this was a mirage, we all know better
As the wins continues, our expectations changed
Maybe the Atlantic title was in our Range

The season came to an end, many records in place,
DD was an all-star, Lowry snubbed in the race
TRoss looked like a player, JV a beast
Add in our bench, WERE A FORCE in the east

7 games later our season was done
There were curse words, and bruises and all kinds of fun
As free agents were pending we all began to fret
But with Masaiah Ujiri, the best is to come yet!

Sorry I just watched 3 raps games from last year on nbatv and got a little fired up...

The season is 50 days away
Sunny ways my friends, sunny ways
    Because its 2015

And players are probably already starting to arrive in Toronto, or will be within the week.

Losing in 7 reinforces to me that match in first round is more important than seeding.

Sort of, except the best way to ensure a favorable matchup is usually to do as well as possible. Usually there's a large quality gap between the top 2-3 seeds and bottom 2-3 seeds that finishing in the former would make you quite happy with your matchup.

Last year was a bit of an odd year, because teams 3-7 were a lot closer in quality than usual.

Well written! Indeed the best is yet to come and I am excited to follow every step of it!
I know this may be a bit controversial but I think the Raptors have proven that they're the best team in the NBA from Canada

Compare and line-up Colangelo and Ujiri's timelines and pretty much at the exact same time did we start calling Bryan Brain Colangelo as Masai became Masaiah.

Too early to say he is the Messiah, but did Masai spend the MLE 3 year term on a white shooter who can't defend? Will Masai trade a 1st round pick and one of our point guards for a two year $20/yr million dollar dud? That is what separates Masai from BCo, competent management.

Colangelo gave Kapono 4 years. That's the great part.

And Masai hasn't financially handcuffed the team.
And Masai isn't relying on a core that doesn't have room to grow.
And Masai has assembled a deep bench.
And Masai isn't trying to bring Europe to the NBA via Canada as a means of compensating.
And Masai isn't trying to assemble a team of jump shooters - long, athletic, and active is the game plan.

I was a big fan of BC for a long time and I am a big fan of Masai now. However the start of their tenures - outside of initial success - couldn't be more different from one another, in my opinion.
