  • I think Masai can do better than #24 and cap space. I don't think Miami gives up #10 for that cap space (Philly could offer a couple of second rounders just to take that cap hit to move up in the draft).

But it's not a terrible idea assuming DeMar opts out after next season.

One big difference between Jrue and DeMar is Jrue just signed a 4 year $41M contract extension.. so Pelicans had him locked up for 4 years at a decent amount.

DeMar can opt out of his contract in a year.. so he's really a rental and so his value will automatically be less.
Fair enough.. but the other side to that argument is that they get an expiring. Not saying its solely comparable, but Wiggins was traded for an all-star in Kevin Love. Although Kevin is a better player than Demar, I don't think his value equates to that of the potential of a Wiggins. That being said, no one in this draft has Wiggins potential.

Raptors will be taking a guy from the deepest part of Africa with tongue clicks in his name who is a decade from being ready. good length though.
I hope Masai makes this a new tradition for the Raptors, scouting and drafting unknown players from the crevices of the globe

Wiggins wasnt a concensus future star last draft (the whole 'lacks aggression' and limited offense and jump shot claims) and love was thought of as a top 7-10 player in the league at the time of the trade.

            Wiggins was drafted #1

If your drafting a guy #1 he better become a star player.

I was hoping that Masai goes more mainstream this draft and pick someone that could make it into the rotation before too long.

                • Anderson looks like a solid pick - looks like a blend of Ross (the shooting) and Joey (the body), with a better attitude? I think we can get away with guys that can only shoot, as long as they have the physique to back it up. We felt pretty hurting on spot-ups this last season.

Demar is what... 25/26. Coming off an all-star season two years ago and leading a team two years to the playoffs. Pretty sure his value is higher.

Either way, lets say his value isn't. You would trade an all-star level guard for a 24th pick? I know you mentioned flipping Haywood for the pick, but I don't think MIA wants to trade out of the draft but rather trade down (which I'm assuming would have to include some young talent).
                    Holiday was:
                    22 at draft
                    A current all star
6'4" long armed defensive menace at PG
Locked up for 4 years at very reasonable deal

I think you're suffering from a little bit of homerism on your assessment and the unfortunate leg fracture he has suffered since being dealt has clouded your memory of his value at the time...all my opinion of course. Glad to disagree.

Guys, the tweet literally says what the Heat want back in return, and it's not more salary (e.g. DD or any other players), it's more cap space so they can resign Wade. I'm guessing we could swap #20 for #10 and McBob and I would do that deal. McRoberts is a good bench stretch 4 and he's making pennies relative to the new cap numbers. He could step into PPat's role as the backup 4 if we bump PPat to starter, or if we trade PPat. What's not to like about taking on a cheap useful bench piece to move up 10 spots into the lottery?
