  • Called it, Detroit will make the Playoffs.

After two games, the Pistons reeled off two wins in dominating fashion.

    vs. IND - 119 -109

    @CLE - 103 - 80

The Josh Smith give-away was a stroke of genius from coach/GM Stan Van Gundy. The entire world knew it was the right move, even a chimpanzee from the Toronto zoo would of done that waiver as well.

Now Detroit's offense is team based. Rhythm is right for all shooters. Drummond's defense and offensive transition should be optimized. Chemistry is high and Munroe is smiling.

With the talent they have on paper and under the SVG system, Detroit will be destroying all teams under 0.500 and be winning against the middling teams a couple of games over 0.500. They can catch the 7th spot in their 65th game. Toronto has to watch out now, Detroit is playing like a team and they will defend way better than last game. Treat this team like a playoff team now.

This is similar to the Rudy Gay trade for the Raptors, but Detroit just did not get any players back with this transaction. Their whole-team performance is going to be on cue soon.

Enjoy your first round exit Houston.... Patrick Patterson, KLOE, and Chuck Hayes are laughing now......and SVG's laughter to Dwight will be noticeable as well.

During that game apparently the Pistons went on a 73-30 run looooooooooooooooool

That means the Cavs were up BIG and got killed in the 2nd half just like our game

        Looking at the boxscore here

The Cavs scored 33 pts in the 2nd half vs the defensive juggernaut that is Detroit

This is a very premature "called it".

A team with a lacking roster had 2 good games against a crappy Indy team, and a Cavs team that lost their only good defensive big for the season.

*Lets check back in a month or so....

            yup..and then this happened:

LeBron James: "Right now we are not very good. In every aspect of the game"

It seems everytime we play the Cavs they look motivated and actually play good

But when they play these others teams they look like horse shit

It's a shot in the dark, but didn't our Raps pull that off on us last year around the same amount of months in, if not games?

Interesting. So getting rid of Josh Smith is addition by subtraction, a la getting rid of Rudy Gay? They can make the playoffs. the 8th seed is up for grabs, with Brooklyn, Boston, Orlando fighting for it. Detroit might join the mix.

A little premature. Drummond and Jennings can't shoot or play defense. Monroe can only score from 0-3ft. They pulled off a couple of win but SVG needs to gut this team ASAP

I think you chose the wrong forum: http://www.pistonsforum.com/

Not the first time you are being delusional when it comes to Pistons. It's two games, they're 7-23 and you create a thread about it praising them and announcing "called it"? What?

this is a weird post. what exactly are you bragging about? and when did you 'call it'? after they won 2 games? weird.

Chill y'all, the whole point off 'calling it' after two games is look like a genius or a jackass depending on what happens. Making crazy predictions is fun.

That being said, I think the OP is wrong about waiving Josh Smith being 'obvious'. It was actually a very ballsy, very expensive move that was brilliant from a leadership stand point. It has obviously galvanized the team and shown the players that the coach and management are willing to put their money were their mouth is, by basically admitting Josh Smith was a mistake and letting him go for the good of everyone else. The players must be so relieved, like "finally, we can start playing like a professional basketball team".

I'm rooting for the Nets to tank and the Pistons to somehow sneak into the playoffs.

The Raps were 6-12 when their turnaround started (when the trade happened). The Pistons at 7-23 have played 12 more games. That's pretty substantial as a difference.

To put it in perspective, the Hawks made the playoffs last year at 38-44....
-To match that, the Raps would've only had to play .500 bball the rest of the season (32-32)
-To match that this year, the Pistons have to win at a .600 clip the rest of the season (31-21), or roughly the clip the Raptors were playing at last year post-trade

They certainly can make the playoffs, but they have a lot to prove. And I think part of the issue in this thread is your use of "called it" instead of "calling it"..."Called" implies it's already been decided, that the outcome is certain. "Calling" implies you're predicting an outcome, but nothing is certain yet and it's yet to be decided.

Oh I read it as he "called it" sometime earlier in the year and not "calling it" now.
