I remember reading an article on here where the writer said that Lou would lose the 6th man award to Rudy Gobert.

Lou gets 70+ 1st place votes - Rudy gets ZERO votes total.....good call SMH

Can see exactly who voted for who if you go here: http://official.nba.com/wp-content/u...esults-PDF.pdf

Here, you can see guys like Bob Fitzgerald from the Bay Area Sportsnet (Golden State) vote for Iguodala; Surprise, surprise (his 2nd and 3rd place votes were Tristan Thomspon and Manu Ginobili .. so there's that.)

Dan Woike from LA vote for Jamal Crawford; surprise, surprise.

Or Hubie Brown vote for .. Nikola Mirotic? Weird.

Eric Smith, Doug Smith and Sherm Hamilton all voted for Lou at least.
Chuck Swirsky voted for Bargnani again :s

Rich Bucher (Bleacher Report) voted for neither Lou, Thomas or Crawford. This guy wouldn't know a 6th man if it hit him in the face.

Wow, this is exactly what Jalen Rose talked about in his last Grantland podcast re: player-voted awards idea. The criticism from the media is that players would never be objective voting for each other - Jalen's response was exactly this. Media develop relationships with guys who give them access and good quotes, and they have a bias towards those guys in awards voting.

True, but in that case, there isn't anyone who wouldn't be biased, whether it be players, fans, media, management, owners, etc.

I'd be more interested in player-voted awards. I'd rather know what the players think of each other than what Doug Smith thinks of them. Frankly I couldn't care less what most published journalists think of them. There's a very few national writers who are really good, and the rest of them are filling jobs because The Daily Planet needs someone to cover basketball.
