According to the most trusted site in the world, Bleacher Report, the Raptors have got a borderline top 10 SF on their hands.

I've said it all year, the biggest internal improvement we could make is to get Atlanta demarre. If he went beast mode in the playoffs, we would be scary good. Not holding my breath

    • The question is who you would replace him with if you did. And would that really be a talent upgrade?

Yep. It's just turning out to be a fucking anchor of a contract man. I know it's technically not that much money nowadays, but we really could use that flexibility.
That's a gross exaggeration. He's still the starting SF playing a bunch of minutes and despite his struggles in space defensively, he's been as productive offensively as he was in ATL. The idea he's some sort of anchor holding the team back is absurd.

People seem to like having a whipping boy they can insult, Used to be DD, now for some it's JV and/or Demarre.

Are you guys insinuating carroll has been a positive contributor? Carroll has not been a positive contributor

Yeah, SFs seems to be really top heavy with all-stars KD/Kawhi/LBJ/Hayward/Butler/George. Each of them is nearly impossible to get, and after them you'll only find handful of possible positive replacements on both sides of the floor over DeMarre - Jae Crowder/Otto Porter/Ariza, all of them also seem unattainable (Boston won't trade with us, Wiz might look to move him, as he is to receive huge (even rookie max, much more probable than one for D Rose).

Bigger problem is lack of SF with similar size on our bench, that come playoff time might really hurt us. We should really entertain an a trade for someone like PJ Tucker/Covington/Sefolosha, who on contrary to Dudley/Wilson Chandler comes off the book in the off-season to have an insurance in case of foul trouble or injury.

                • At what point was it decided carroll can defend small forwards in a way that ross can't? He's much slower, and has shown no evidence he's stronger.

When he limits the amount of times he loses his man off-ball and doesn't try to dribble-drive, he's not a negative out there. Not $15 mill good but not Salmons bad either.

Any facts to back up your opinion?

To be fair this season Paul George sometimes plays with so much effort like he want to get back on Larry for firing Vogel and selling out on a core that went to East Finals 2 times (Not even 1 player besides PG from '14 team, 2nd conf finals, is still in IND).

Again, he's struggled defensively in space and he's been inconsistent in terms of production but he's neither the main problem with the team nor is his contract some sort of albatross. He certainly hasn't played as well as I would like but there's a middle ground between "ATL playoff Demarre Carroll" and "fucking anchor" dragging the team down. That's all I'm saying.

George has also played about 220 more minutes than Carroll, so he's been quite a bit more impactful than Carroll on the offensive end. Just wanted to point out the opinion that Carroll has played like a POS isn't borne out by either BPM or RPM.
