Not that it's worth debating anyway at this point but didn't Fields get hurt in that series? I remember him cracking the rotation in game one or two and then taking a really bad spill that hurt his back and either kept him out or limited in a few games after that.
And then he miraculously played in the final minute, but only the final minute, of game 7.

Neither Fields nor Salmons played a lot.
Salmons played 77 minutes over 6 games that series and was a -44 in a series where the full seven game point differential was ONE. Yes, -44 in 77 minutes.

        • Literally every minute Salmons was on the court, Casey was effectively waving the white flag. Fields should have cracked the rotation two months earlier. If Fields plays in game 1 and doesn't post the incredibly efficient -9 in 13 minutes that Salmons managed, we win that game and the entire series is different.

Fields was the only guy on the team who could guard Joe Johnson for any length of time and he had to "earn" a spot in the rotation...

          • Let's just hope that Casey learned from the last two playoffs, and trusts his bench this time. We're a deep team, those guys should get run in the playoffs.

So are you saying he was faking it or something? He left the court after the hit in game 3 and had to miss game 4 entirely - it makes sense that he would be hobbled for the rest of the series and play very little.

If he can play in the final minute if game seven, he was cleared for game seven. Salmons was -10 in 6 minutes (his magnum opus!) in a deciding game that would end as a one point loss.

In any case, the point was also that he should have played every minute instead of Salmons, which means playing in game 1 at all, and playing more in game 2, and playing more in game 3, pre-injury. Right there is more than enough difference to win us the series.

Discovery Channel HQ is in Silver Springs, Maryland.

                  NBA commish is Adam Silver.

                  Almost too obvious.
