  • Game #52: Toronto Raptors 112 - Minnesota Timberwolves 117

    Starting Lineups:

    Raptors

    PG - Kyle Lowry
    SG - DeMar DeRozan
    SF - Norman Powell
    PF - Luis Scola
    C - Jonas Valanciunas

    Timberwolves

    PG - Ricky Rubio
    SG - Andrew Wiggins
    SF - Tayshaun Prince
    PF - Kevin Garnett
    C - Karl-Anthony Towns

    Key Matchup:

The Toronto Raptors dismantled the Detroit Pistons on Monday, and head west for a showdown with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kyle Lowry was stellar against the Pistons (25 points, 7 assists), sealing the win with help from Terrence Ross coming off of the bench (18 points, 4 rebounds). This game on Wednesday will be the last for the Raptors before the All Star Weekend in Toronto. Occasionally teams will dial down their effort on the court when the All Star festivities draw near. The question is, will the Raptors fall into this trap? They will need to maintain their focus against the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, two younger players eager to prove themselves and cement their status as future stars of the NBA. The first half of the season is coming to a close!

Pretty excited to get a good look at KAT ... the guy is pretty quietly putting together a Rookie season for the ages.

They got Wiggins, and KAT, why are teams beating them by 10+ routinely, excluding the occasional upset?

Answer: Rob Babcock lurks in their front office

tough tough match up for powell and val for this game. hopefully casey keeps them focused and the come out hard. wolves are front runners and a nice lead will deflate them quickly.

Experience and Supporting cast. Even Lebron missed the playoffs his first year. And KG is starting for them, and really he shouldn't even be in the league anymore. Lol

But ya, no one is talking about this season as Garnetts swan song, like they are Kobe's, but I have to imagine this is his last kick at the can.

he might do another year to mentor kat as a player before heading to a coaching/office role. he isn't there for his play. the kobe swan song was because he said i am done after this year because we were all pittying him. went from "how sad is kobe" to "one of the greats to ever play is having his last hurrah"

Joey, you may have a look at some stats before you write off Garnett.

His offence has declined dramatically and he's only averaged under 15 min in the 38 games he's played.

                BUT

ESPN's DRPM has him as the 2nd best defensive PF in the NBA behind only Draymond.

NBA.com has him with a 96.4 DefRtg; the only TWolves even close are Prince (102.6) and Rubio (102.9) - everyone else is over 105. When he's off the court, the team's DefRtg is 108.5.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Minnesota is proof tanking doesn't work. Two #1 overall picks from draft classes everyone agreed were can't miss, yet they fucking suck.

Well KAT is a rookie and Wiggins is in his second year. In a few years, those 2 will be a nice duo.

yeah kobe is only one year younger spent more times in playoffs and has had more major injuries and still is capable of very good games. garnett is just eroding he should have a maglore role.

And if they are a top contender in the West for 5 years because of those two, will that prove the opposite?

because they are defense first vets who have both won championships

also if we are nit picking they traded for wiggins. they failed their build through draft when they chose johnny flynn.
