also, going into 2017 free agency the warriors will only have Klay and Green and Looney on the books, as well as any players they sign to contracts this season that are beyond one year guaranteed, and the picks they get at the 2017 draft. Basically, they'll have the space to max Durant (which they need due to non-bird rights) and Curry and may still have some cap space left over to sign a few players. Even if they end up with a few other contracts on the books for next year and maxing Durant results in being over the cap, they of course have Curry's Bird Rights to exceed the cap. And of course, once over the cap they'll have exceptions and plenty of vet mins at their disposal to fill out the roster. Like I said, the perfect storm of factors had to come together in order for this to work out for them. But luck, good drafting, smart management, and of course, the huge cap jump made it possible.

or that they don't believe that bebe is an NBA player and don't want to rely on a rookie too much.

Read an article by Scalabrine that they should get rid of all max contracts.You pay a player what you think he is worth to your team.40 mil 50 mil .This means that another team can offer more if you are already paying one guy too much.2 ,3 max players become hard to keep together.Definately more parity.

Interesting. What it would also do is prevent the ridiculous salaries for these bench guys that are making more than tom brady.
