  • I think we will make one more trade before the season starts, with the Clippers

Toronto out: DMC, Patrick Patterson, Lucas Nogueira, 2017 1st round pick (Clippers pick), 2018 1st round pick
    Toronto in: Blake Griffin

    - If we still have leftover money left, we sign Wilson Chandler or Maurice Harkless to a 2 year deal
    - If we still have cap left, we sign Drew Gooden to the vet minimum, a locker room presence for the young guns

    Raps Depth Chart
    Lowry, Joseph, VanVleet
    DeRozan, Powell, DWright
    Chandler or Harkless, Ross, Bruno
    Griffin, Sullinger, Siakam
    Val, DGooden, JPoeltl

    - Siakam, Bruno, Poeltl will be in the 905 this year along with Delon Wright who might be our third string PG or backup SG when one of our players get injured.

The first story did mention the Raptors, and was written before the Sullinger swap.

The second was only about Boston, no mention of the Raptors or Cleveland,.

I'm looking at a Vegas sportsbook and they have Boston 30-1 for the NBA championship and 10-1 to win the East. Raptors are 75-1 and 18-1. Now there is definitely going to be more stupid money (aka homer money) bet on Boston than Toronto, but even so, the gap between us and them isn't much.

Question for anyone who knows shit like this. A gambler can bet on Boston at 10-1 to win the East. Can he bet against Boston in any of the the sportsbooks?

No you won't see bets against teams unless the team is supposed to win. So this year you can find sportsbooks that will take bets against the Warriors by betting "the field", but expect it to be something like 1-2 or 2-3 odds, basically you won't even get your money matched for the bet. In the past when Tiger Woods was killing it every tournament he was in had the option of taking the field.

For a team like Boston the only way anyone would let you bet the field against them would be on odds of you betting $1000 to win $10 or something.

Edit: Just checked Bet365, you can bet "Will Warriors win it all?", Yes/No, and both have same odds of 1.83, which means for every $1 you bet you win $1.83 in total.
You could probably get a prop bet with a sports book for Boston to finish lower no higher than 5th ...
Given its a special kind of a bet you'd have to make the bet with the sports book directly....they might or might not take it...and they would set the odds....
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

I wouldnt mind trading one 1st rounder away, but 2 is way too much for one year control, even if it's Griffin (who by the way has yet to get his team anywhere near over the hump in the playoffs).

I think Clips would take one 1st rounder and throw in Bebe (who I think wont get much time now with Val and Poeltl). And shed the salary of Carroll, who we can then use to re-sign Lowry easily and get a half decent winger in 2017.

          • If the Clippers dump Griffin I doubt it is to win now. So more likely Ross is the centrepiece than Carroll, IMO.

Seeing Boston being dubbed a contender next year, with no mention of the Raps anywhere ... makes me puke a little in my mouth.

I'm not at all convinced about Boston yet. Especially considering the pieces they've lost.
Yeah.. this anointing of the Celtics as the rising power in the East has the same ring to it as last years Miami Heat being conference contenders did...
              AND
Just like the Heat prediction this too is a pile of dung...

Last years Hawks.. who had better personnel than this years Celtics... finished 4th with Al Horford.

So how does Boston with lesser personnel and a year older Horford suddenly become the 2nd best team in the east ? They don't.. but that's not getting in the way of the summer drivel coming from the inbred hicks from SI / ESPN / CBS et al..

Ross, Patterson, 2 2017 picks is a pretty nice offer actually, but it doesn't make them bad if that's the point. They'd have to ditch Paul and run with...Austin Rivers.

I have thought for a while that Griffin is one of the only 4s that would have a shot at moving the needle for us. No one's talking about the rumour though, so it must be...

To be fair, if Bosh doesn't go down, the Heat probably take out the Raps in 6.

Not necessarily. Blake has been injured part of last 2 seasons and last year got into a physical confrontation with another employee. Clippers may be ready to move on from him but still give CP3 and DJ a team that can win.
