  • Legacy League match 9 Joey vs Apollo

The legacy league was created to pit teams drafted by fellow RR members against each other and allow the general RR populous to vote on who would win this winner take all, single elimination game if all players were at their peak performance.

Each team drafted an 8 man roster. Each team provided a gameplan justification as to why they believe they should get your vote. Each team is allowed 1 post for "in game adjustments." The role of RR community is simple, vote for who you believe should win. Post justification if you want (encouraged) and weigh the pros and cons for all to see, but ultimately, your vote decides who will win this tournament of legends.

    Joeys Gameplan
With little Wing/Back Court Defense, Stockton, Allen and McGrady will be able to take full advantage by attacking, shooting and passing at will, while also taking advantage of their length and athleticism. And with Hakeem having dominated '95 Playoff matchup with Shaq, I'm confident prime-Hakeem would more than hold his own down low.

Defensively, we have the defenders with the tenacity and length to bother his outside shooters into misses, and the bulk, length, shooting, and athleticism to front his big guys and bother them all game long, while also pulling them out of the paint when needed. Prince and Bowen will lock up Barry/Wilkens. Stockton/DJ attacking & pestering Curry all night will be hell for him, or Parker.

McGrady beasting on Barry/Richmond/Thompson would be BLAST to see actually.

    Good Luck Apollo!

    Apollo Gameplan

    Defense
Shaq vs. Hakeem will be where everyone gravitates to first. The voters should keep in mind that this is 1999-00 Shaq, when he dominated like no other in the modern era outside of Michael Jordan. Neither The Dream or Kemp can stretch the defense and so there won’t be any room inside for their team. Bowen is a defensive specialist and is no threat on offense. Our perimeter guys will stick close to Stockton, Allen and T-Mac with the main goal to force them to settle for low percentages.

    Offense
We’ll play slow half court sets, working the inside out game. We’ll keep the ball moving, we’ll utilize pick and rolls, we’ll have guys like Mitch, Nique, Mitch in position to capitalize on their Joey’s struggles in attempting to contain the Shaq/Steph combo. If we’re having trouble finding space inside, we’ll bring Aldridge in and force Joey to pull a guy out of the paint.

    And 1...

    Adjustments:

Joey wants a high scoring affair and my team is designed to shoot the lights out when not hammering it home in the paint. We'll rely on a more talented lineup, play our game and force him to adjust to us.

Here's a funny video of Tracy getting buuuuuurned!

I'm gonna have to vote for Joey on this one. I don't see enough defence coming from Apollo's backcourt.

I'm gonna give the slight edge to Joey based on the defence and his bench

Joey I voted for you. Simple The real main match up is Hakeem vs Shaq. Shaq admitted the only person that he never dominated was Hakeem.

            Joeys "Adjustments" (50 words)
Apollo doesn't account for my actual Starting Lineup in his gameplan (Reed/Prince not Kemp/Bowen) .. he's ignored my starters, and made no mention in his Adjustments.

His liabilities on defense are unchanged, and his shooters will have little success against my tenacious, long stoppers. No adjustments.

            Hakeem is Beast:

The video text didn't show up when I went to remove the extra 5 words from your post. Unless they were invisible to me I don't know how that is possible.

Not a fan of Joey's bench but Apollo doesn't have enough defenders.

I do think prime Shaq beats prime Hakeem. Shaq was just so big and strong that Hakeem would have a hard time with that.

Ultimately the bench wins it for Apollo.

This league stuff is taking over the forum. Is there any way it can all be put in one thread?

No. It's summer and nothing much else is going on.

                              Edit - plus it's only 6 threads 2-3 days a week.
