What are your guys' best case and worst case scenarios for next season, and what do you think will actually happen? How far can we go, how bad could we do?

I think the best case scenario with this current roster is that we duplicate the results of this past post season and make it to the Conference finals again. I just don't see us going any further with the current core and there has to be some sort of significant change to get past LeBron James in the conf. finals.

Worst case scenario is that the lack of moves this summer and the moves made by other teams result in other teams passing us in the standings and we go on to get knocked out in the first round.

    Basically this, however

I'm going to wait and see what kind of leaps we get out of Powell and Valanciunas, and what we get from Sullinger and Poeltl/Bebe, before definitively saying we can't make the finals. Clevelands players are all either at peak or (james) ((hopefully)) on a slow decline.

We will not go quietly in the night. We will rage against the dying light. We will study every buzzer beater with intensified might, because somethin with the NBA doesn't smell right.

Best case is we win a championship. Realistic best case is we make the finals.

Worst case is we miss the playoffs due to significant injuries. Realistic worst case (assuming decent health) we end up taking a big step back defensively (for a variety of reasons) and end up in the 6-7 seed range and flame out again in the playoffs.

Even if those two things happen ... we still have assets (two draft picks in a solid draft) this means we can actually have some flexibility.

    Best case:

DeMar remembers how to play defense, decides to be a playmaker, Lowry makes it through a season healthy, Powell continues to break out and improve his shot, Ross stops being a headcase, Carroll gets healthy, JV continues to grow, Poeltl is a player. Casey develops a real offensive playbook.

    Worst case:

DeMar stays in #EmptyTheClip mode from the playoffs, Lowry breaks down, Ross can't be consistent, Powell is more the player he was against Miami than the player he was against Indiana, Poeltl takes a while to develop, Carroll's legs continue to keep him out/ineffective.

Somewhere between we win 55ish games, go back to the ECF, maybe the Finals if we get lucky vs. Cleveland, and we take a gigantic step back and have serious questions going into next summer.

Best case: we repeat, go to the ECF but this time actually push CLE to the limit to a game 7 and the games are actually competitive. Norm shows that he is a very high level 6th man that is so good he makes us really, really question if he should be starting like a poorman's Harden effect in OKC. Then that one of Poeltl or Siakam (preferably both of course) surprises us like Norm did last year and looks very good. Of course, hoping that Sully is in shape (period) then lastly trading Ross in some sort of package for either a good young prospect/2017 pick or upgrade at PF or even SF (not sold on Carroll and his health).

Worst case: We end up 2nd again BUT Lowry breaks down and is injured so we bomb and get spanked out of another 1st rd and our pick sucks and the Clips are 2nd in the West so their pick to us sucks as well. Additionally that JV looks like his Team LIT version and that Biz looks like the second coming of Ben Wallace in ORL and Masai walks when MLSE cheaps out.

I'm going to jump in again and answer just the threads title

The raptors will win some and lose some. Fake wins will be stated quite often. Panic and pessimism will consume the boards after losses. People will complain about demar derozan and dwane casey, and their spokesperson, christian. Barolt will have stats showing that demar is the worst basketball player on the planet. DanH will be collecting likes. Superjudge will judge superbly. GLF will GLF all over the place.

And, most certain of all, jv will be underutilized ;-)

Raptors win 60 games. Have 3 All-Stars and take Cleveland to a game 7.

Really feel like DeMar and Val will take more big steps this season. Lowry will fall back just a bit but will still be great for us. Sully fits in nicely after a semi-rough start. First Finals appearance in franchise history (barring injury).

    Not on Adam Silver's watch.

It was already the highest grossing Finals ever...now you throw Durant (worthless ass) into the mix in a "showdown" with LeBron. The profits are set to explode next year.

You know if Marty McCutcheon or Scott Foster ref Raps vs CAVS games don't bother showing up. If get Zachary Zarbo or Danny Crawford we may have a chance. Certain refs on board imo with league plan others not so easily influenced and will call games without preconceived notions of what the expected outcome should be.

Two late first round picks are essentially scraps. We had a lottery pick this draft and still couldn't find the right deal. Given the trend away from wanting to pay the guaranteed salary of late first rounders I doubt we could even package both of them for a pick in the mid-teens.

The real hope assetwise is that one of our youngsters makes a leap and increases his trade value.

I feel like Lowry will hit a wall and with his age catching up to him, his play will deteriorate a little bit. All in all, I think we'll make the ECF and get swept by Cavs.

I think Lowry will regress a bit too, but how much will depend on whether Casey commits to managing his minutes instead of riding him like a thoroughbred every night. The best case scenario would be another ECF appearance and to play competitive basketball in every game against Cleveland as opposed to getting shellacked in 4 out of 6 games. The worst case scenario would be missing the playoffs entirely due to injuries, but a middling playoff seed and a first round exit would be horrible too.

Best Case: With some luck going our way, we stay healthy and end up getting back to the ECF and possibly make a Finals appearance with our core. Lowry chooses to accept his Player Option, allowing us to have more cap space. We somehow make a big free agent splash, thus making us even stronger for one last run at the Ring.

Worst Case- Injuries strike hard. We can barely muster ourselves into a playoff spot and get kicked out of the 1st round. Lowry refuses his PO and chooses to leave. DD asks to be traded due to this and we get back a shit deal, leaving us in a rebuild situation.

that is kinda of a simple statement but a very good one I see it as someone has to emerge to that level beyond kyle and deebo as our all-stars kyle improved from all star to 3rd team all pro last year and deebo was back to an all star after a years absence..
JV is the obvious candidate for me but even if some how we end up with a sixth man that is not a one way player as williams was, could it be cory or even ross or norm. How about a most improved player even out of those three. DC healthy will be imprortant I see us chalanging clevland for conference finals but losing in 6 or 7 without the blowouts that happened. same as last year within 2 games of clevland in reg season

worst case injuries or even no one improving or regressing finishing 4 th and not or barly getting out of 1 st roubd
