In part posters are concerned that history will repeat itself again this year. Losing yet again to Cavs brings backs memories of last year and may again foreshadow our fate again this year.
We should be so lucky to have a 2nd consecutive conf finals apperance.

Lot more to RR than the trade thread. Sullinger should be back next month and the deadline isn't until late February. Lots of time.

And we're 1 game out of 1st. 50 posts seems kneejerk IMO.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

      • Is the time to go after Millsap now?

Lose one game and 50 posts go up on the trade thread in 20 hours. smh.
We should probably spend more time arguing about DeMar DeRozan.

You have to wonder how close the Hawks are to throwing in the towel. Bazemore is looking like a bad contract, Korver is done, not much offense other than Schroder and Millsap. Dwight isn't a great fit with Bud.

I hope they tear the whole thing down and Masai is waiting there at the ready.

Realistically though, we are very clearly the 2nd best team in the East. If we don't make the ECF again, the season should be considered a failure.

Atlanta is one franchise that doesn't have much of a history of "giving up".

                • Yeah Hawks are a win now team. Owners probably prefer the playoff revenue over going through a rebuild. Hard to rebuild as well when you have a 30 year old Dwight Howard locked up for 3 more years.

And from what I recall, Horford's asking price last year was too rich for every GM. There may be pressure to get something back for Millsap in case he leaves, but like Horford perhaps Millsap just wants the $$$. Rumours were that Horford would have gone back to Atlanta if they matched Boston's offer and perhaps Millsap would be willing to do the same.

And even if Atlanta considered trading Milllsap they'd want something similar to what OKC got for Ibaka. That included Oladipo and a lottery pick in the draft.

                  • Any interest in Otto Porter? I read on Real GM that he could get a max offer which seems crazy. Apparently playing like a lottery pick now.

He's absolutely gonna get a max. 15-8-2-2 shooting 50-40-80. Only 23 and can guard 3 or 4 positions.

Guaranteed max unless he gets injured. Also no way we can acquire him, they'd likely say no to JV+Ross even (and I wouldn't do that either).

So why would they trade him?

They trade him if they don't want to pay him.

They maxed Beal, who didn't deserve max, but they won't max Porter, who does?

They'll trade anyone but Wall before they trade Porter.

Feels like league wide consensus that maxing Beal was a bad move. Perhaps management wants to avoid making a similar mistake.

Except with Porter it wouldn't be a mistake.

It like saying OKC overpaid Kanter so they should have avoided that mistake with Westbrook.
