At 22 and a half I don't like reading "he's so used to being able to rely on his superior strength at the AAC level, which was very unsuccessful vs NBA-caliber talent. ". Or, "...thinking the game at a high level on the court and reacting to defensive coverages is still a work in progress for Ojeleye."
I only watched one SMU game this yr (their Rd. Of 64 loss) and his poor decision-making definitely stood out.
I'm sorta lukewarm on him. Leaning more toward higher upside or trading back for multiple picks/futures. I might take him if we traded back for two 2nds.
The think is in the pros he is going to be playing off other players. All he will be asked to do is 3 and D. I see him as Jae Crowder type player.

With Ferguson in our range now. I think we would be the better pick at 23. If Justin Jackson of Maryland stays in the draft than he probably be my favourite.

He seems like a capable shooter. His physicals tools on D look like his most intriguing qualities but the lack of IQ might not fully realize those qualities. In a way, hes a bit like pj, maybe with a better shot but less IQ. Physically they are a bit different.
Like I said, right now I'm thinking more upside. We generally lack talent and we are starting to graduate some of our previous picks.
Otherwise, maybe trade back for two 2nds and get two cheap role players like semi and Evans, etc. The 2nd option is less appealing bc I think we can get a degraded but adequate version of this by using our 1st on upside and signing cheap role players that are not drafted like we did with fvv.

        • I like the swagger Ferg plays with. Borderline arrogant. I feel like we need more players that don't lack confidence. That will consistently take their shots. Even in the face of adversity.

          • The problem I have with T-Ferg is he looks VERY one dimensional as a spot up shooter.

His handles look really subpar and outside of dunk competitions I haven't seen much else that makes him that intriguing (I really haven't seen that same type of explosive dunking in game).

Well we are either getting older players, specialists or raw talent this late in the draft. So we just have to live with it
Only one thing matters: We The Champs.

I'll go with raw talent all day, which is exactly what we should be doing.

Our roster is overloaded with role players we need to take a chance on upside and please don't mention Bruno as an arguement against it because he is THE rawest player maybe of all time. I'm talking more players like Hartenstein, Bolden, Jeanne, Giles, Kuzma, Diallo etc who have been developing, who don't look lost on a basketball court but have the physical tools that with development (which Masai stressed at the year end presser) have potential to be much more. We need to stop drafting to fill holes in our roster especially when most rookies will not be the reason why your team gets over the hump in the next year or two and especially here with Casey as coach.

Our draft choices truly need to be with the future in mind. Not how do we get over LeBron, that's done through FA or trades. Draft picks are to handle the future challenges of Giannis, Simmons, Embiid....possibly Ball, Fultz etc too. With role players we're just treading water. This isn't a FA hotspot either *ahem* Carroll and Hedo were our "big hauls" so our team in particular really, really needs to take a chance on trying to find a high upside player.

                • As aside I really want the Lakers to lose their pick, so sick of them being gifted everything but won't be the least bit surprised if the Lakers "conveniently" win it because we know the league will absolutely love the money machine Ball will make them again.

I also think unless it is actually BOS that wins the lotto, that Ball will go #1 overall and I believe he should.

Long term he just projects to cause his team to have greater success than Fultz. With Ball I'm almost 100% confident if he remains healthy (not that it's a concern) that whatever team he's on will eventually be a 50+W team, I think Fultz is a lethal #1 scoring option but I don't think that necessarily translates to wins.

I'm also hoping the lakers lose their pick. Cheering along with the lottery tomorrow night is going to be really hard for a lot of us:
                    I'm cheering against the Lakers.
                    I'm cheering against the Celtics.
If Philly gets 2 top 5 picks they could be really strong soon.

Who do I hate more the Celtics or the Lakers? Man this is tough!

Ideally, I'd want Kings, Magic and Knicks win 1,2 and 3 respectively.

Yeah but I got a bad feelings it will be 1. Celtics 2. Lakers and 3. 76 er's.

well kings can't get 1, but either way I'd want Dallas, Miami, and Orlando. Two teams that actually tried to win with largely mediocre players and a team that deserves to catch a break.
