and the Post weighs in... there is nothing quite like the New York media when they go for the jugular in a loss...love the last line.

That was far more than could be claimed about the Knicks, who were brutal in a boo-laden 110-96 destruction laid on them by the Pelicans at the Garden, the Knicks’ eighth defeat in nine games. The drubbing saw Carmelo Anthony bounced on two third-quarter technicals and Kyle O’Quinn banished 79 seconds later on a flagrant Foul 2.

“We got our asses kicked,” said Noah, receiving absolutely no debate.

Atlanta plays Brooklyn tomorrow. Should be a win for them.

So a loss to Boston tomorrow drops us to 3rd (Boston would have the tiebreaker. 1-1 head to head and they'd be 7-1 against the division and we'd be 5-1).

And Atlanta would move within 1.5 games of us. Luckily for us the Celtics and Hawks play each other on Friday while we play Brooklyn at home.

You could have set your watch to this one....A day after going super nova against the raps and putting up 42 with 20 trips to the FT line Jimmy Butler is 0 for 4 at the half with 2 Trips to the line for 1 point. He must have exhausted himself .... McDermott and Mirotic return to their normal crappy selves and have 3 points between them. The Bulls trail by 17 early in the third.....Don't think the Thunder take their foot off the Bulls collective throats in this one. At some point we need to beat this crew by 30 and keep running it up to exorcise the demons once and for all.

Edit at 10pm... Its over. The Bulls made a bit of a run at the Thunder after going down by 25 and closed it to 13 but the Thunder put out the starters right away. Not an over dribbling clock management challenged guard to be seen on the floor once the lead started to ebb even a little. The Thunder left nothing to chance. BTW....Butler finished with 1 point in 29 minutes. Hate em almost as much as the Leprechauns.

The Knicks are losing their footing and have begun their slide out of contention down by 27 to the Pelicans late in the 4th. At home. To a non playoff western team thats 9 games under 500.
The New York media circus should be circling as there is more than a hint of blood in the water at the Garden. Can't wait to read the Post on line after this one.
Butler was sick and wasn't supposed to play, and Wade hurt his neck before returning.

What really stuck out to me was Westbrook returning up 22 in the 4th vs Zipser, Canaan, and the other Bulls third-stringers. I like Russ but apparently he's done this before in the hunt for triple-doubles. Not a good look.

New York is finished. They should try to salvage some pieces and rebuild around Porzingis ASAP.

Russ "The Stat Padder" Westbrook may have come in to for that reason.. however (not a but) I like it for another aspect...when Russ comes in it signals that the coach wants him to put two behind the Bulls left ear. He did that and the Thunder walked away with a win.

One of things I liketo see is to get any perceived excuses out of the way. You don't want anyone thinking.. "this team has our number.. or we're just jinxed against this team". Putting a freaking stake through the heart of the Bulls with a 20 point win is something Casey should aim to do next time out even if it means playing KL and DD 42 mins in a blowout.

Kill them. Spit on them. Piss on them. Start your car and drive away. You want to be the big dog on the block. Show it.

              AND>>

Oh yeah.. am with you 100%....the knicks are all but done. And I think the organization has to suspend Rose in order to show there isn't rules for one set of guys and rules for others. Rose is going to have to man up to the team and cowboy up to the press. Nothing like a little controversy in NYC with all those dailies looking to sell papers.

The East is still bunched but its beginning to stratify.

The Cavs are getting harder and harder to see and they are starting to pull away. Lets say they win 7 of 10 in the next 4 sets of 10 game measuring parameters. That means just to pull even with them the raps have to go 33 and 7. Dont'ya just hate math sometimes.

2.5 games separate 9th from 4th and home court.
3.5 games separate the 12th place Magic from the 8th and last spot.

                Tonights Matchups.

Leprechauns vs Your Toronto Raptors The Celts limp in without Avery Bradley their best perimeter defender and a Zeller. Not sure which one as they all look and play the same. Isiah Thomas has been putting up big numbers. So the keys to this game are contain him and win the battle on the glass to limit second chance points. Have to think the Raps are a little pissed at this point after the Bulls debacle and the loss to the Rockets. Raps with PPat rounding back into form and a good night from Ross get off the schneid with a win over the plucky warriors from Boston.

Da Bulls visit Washington The Bulls after winning 2 they had no business winning lost by double digits last night to the Oklahoma City Russells. Tonight the gang who can't shoot straight face a rested Whiz who have a really simple path to the playoffs. Be better than the Bulls... thats all.. and it should be an easy strategy to execute because they are better than the Bulls. The Whiz aren't better than Atlanta if Milsap stays, or Charlotte or the Bucks or even the Pacers.. so that means they just have to be better than the Bulls. Expect the Whiz who are led again by Wall and Beal and Gortat to knock off the Bulls who are on B2B .

Hawks vs Brooklyn The only people watching the Nets play are Celtics fans revelling in the draft pick looking like lead pipe cinch for top 3. The Nets are pretty poor. Hawks win.

Charlotte visits the Beard The Rockets look pretty good. They live and die by the jumper but they have enough shooters with Harden and Ariza and Gordon and Anderson that somebody is bound to be on. Look for the Rockets to win a close one against the always prepared Buzz.

Bucks into San Antone The Bucks are a quality team in the midst of a pretty tough schedule. They lose this one tonight but the Alphabet and Parker are going to likely finish 6th or better when its all said and done. But tonight they are done. Spurs just grind another one out.

Pistons visit Boogie Drummond vs Boogie on the boards. Should be a good one. Pistons are starting to come around a bit and if they are going to make the playoffs they have to be better than both the Bucks and the Bulls and possibly the Pacers. Tall order but they have the talent to do it with Drummond / Harris / Pope and a coming around Reggie Jackson. Look for Dave Joeger to put duct tape across Boogies yip to prevent him from getting his 13th tech by spitting out his mouth guard as the Kings try to keep in the hunt for 8th place out west. Its a roadie but the Kings are the Kings and look for the Pistons to rack up their 3rd win in a row. Another example of a "Kings Fubar"-- The Kings picked McLemore one slot ahead of Caldwell Pope in the 2013 draft. Both are SG's. Man these guys in the front office suck.

                    Here's the Raptors:

                    1. Toronto Raptors

Odds of beating Cavaliers in a series: 48% without home-court
                    Conference title: 42.2% | NBA title: 9.7%
                    Vegas championship odds: 40-1

A recent skid from the Raptors has BPI now projecting that Toronto will finish No. 2 in the East, after an extended stretch of likely finishing ahead of the Cavs. The difference between Toronto having home-court advantage vs. Cleveland having home-court amounts to a 9.0 percent swing in odds.

Toronto is 4.5 games back of Cleveland right now, but BPI only projects the teams to finish two games apart. If the Raptors took the first two home games in a hypothetical Eastern Conference finals matchup, BPI would give them an 80 percent chance to win the series and make the NBA Finals.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

So Derek Rose had a family issue SO IMPORTANT that he didn't even have time to take 10 seconds and text a coach, assistant coach, front office member or teammate. SO IMPORTANT that it was resolved in 24 hours and now he's "focused". SO COINCIDENTAL that this 24 hour no time for text emergency came right after a 4th quarter benching. This is the same entitled (pardon my language) prick that used to sit out way too long after injury in Chicago and listed his reasoning as "I need good knees for when I'm retired and working in a boardroom". The same jerk who took smilin' selfies with the jury right after the case who acquitted him of all charges of gang rape. The same delusional weirdo who thought he's still an all star this offseason, and called the Knicks a "super team".

Spoiled AAU brat, just like George Karl(like it or hate it) described. Derrick Rose never grew up. Probably never made a bed in his life, or washed a dish. Never got in trouble, never held accountable. Some guys can survive being spoiled like that because they have character of a man. Others are just a caricature of a man.

OK... 3 outta 5 and very happy I missed one of them on the Bucks upset right in San Antonio.
The Pistons are now in the officially scuffling category. They gave up up a 13 point lead at halftime and lost by 6 to the SactoBoogies. A twenty point swing. Stan must need a massage for those arms as they had to be flailing like mad last night.

And now on to tonight's matchups.

Knicks visiting the Hinkies So, your used to be MVP star point guard is really unhappy on his recent benchings, is at odds with the coach about it and to show his displeasure quit on the team the other night and went home without telling anyone. Your other used to be NBA allstar SF has a bad shoulder injury he says he is playing through, but, said shoulder could at any moment give out and put him on the shelf for a while. Carmello is coping with all this by getting thrown out of games on T's. The other marquee player you signed to a 4 year 72M$ investment in Joakim Noah doesn't seem to be working out either. Noah is struggling offensively and the bum knees the Knicks knew he had coming in have robbed him of his lateral quickness inside and made him an average defensive player at best. When he isn't running down his players the quote a minute Zen Master sits stoically courtside watching it all burn to the ground. Yep...Just another season in Gotham.
The Hinkies are not last or even second last but have surged to 13th. Lets not get to giddy with The Process as they still suck out loud with 10 wins in 35 chances and have a oddly built team that needs lots of work to become cohesive. But tonight, warts and all, look for the Hink's who are at home to beat the reeling Knicks. With a win the Sixers draw closer to the Magic and 12th spot. Dizzying heights for this flea bag of a franchise. If this happens look for DefCon4 to be in full swing at MSG.

Washington at Boston The Chowderheads after coughing up a hair ball to the raps last night in a game they had in hand return home to face the recently surging Whiz who have won 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10. Both teams are on a B2B.
Good matchup of backcourts tonight as Wall and Beal take on Thomas and Bradely who should play tonight. Gortat and Morris should come out on top on the battle on the glass over Amir and Horford. A win puts the Whiz in 5th and 2 games up on the Bulls in the loss column. A win for the Celtics rights the ship after that tough loss to the Raps. The Whiz can really use the win but they suck on the road. It pains me to pick them but the Leprachauns take this one by a whisker. Please let me be wrong John Wall.

Orlando in LaLa Land vs the Clips. As the third bad lab experiment in the east (the other two are the Bulls and Knicks.. and maybe the Pacers make it four) the Magic didn't have very much in the way of expectations to live up to but have managed to be below that low bar. They are currently 7 games under 500 and have the next 5 on the road. When they get home they have the Bucks and Warriors waiting for them. Its conceivable they drop 6 of the next 7 and land firmly in the lottery. It starts tonight vs the Clips who have their own crosses to bear but Chris Paul , Deandre Jordan and JJ Reddick will handle the Magicians by double digits. Rob Hennigan, GM of the Magic, is on the hottest seat in the league outside of Chicago.
Watch for the for rumors to start on some of the Magics good to very good ,but ill fitted to this teams current construct, players. Serge Ibalka, Nik Vucevic, Mario Hezonja and Elfrid Payton. Hey.. you can finish in the lottery without these guys too.
