Love me a good NBA fight! A poke in the nose. A slap on the cheek. Everybody rushes in. "Hold me back! Hoooooooold me back!"

You knew this was going to happen. It's New York. That collection of players was a disaster waiting to happen both on and off the court.

Losers in 9 of 10 they have the Bulls tonight on a back-to-back then Raps/Hawks back-to-back (Sun/Mon) and then in Chicago. They could be staring at a 1-13 stretch facing 5 of their next 8 on the road.

And they continue to be putrid on the defensive end. During their 1-9 suckfest, they've held one opponent under 100 points (the 76ers) and, before that, hadn't held an opponent under 100 since Orlando on December 22 on their way to a DRTG of 110.9 (let's call that 111)!!!!!!!!!!!

OK... 3 outta 5 and very happy I missed one of them on the Bucks upset right in San Antonio.
The Pistons are now in the officially scuffling category. They gave up up a 13 point lead at halftime and lost by 6 to the SactoBoogies. A twenty point swing. Stan must need a massage for those arms as they had to be flailing like mad last night.

And now on to tonight's matchups.

Knicks visiting the Hinkies So, your used to be MVP star point guard is really unhappy on his recent benchings, is at odds with the coach about it and to show his displeasure quit on the team the other night and went home without telling anyone. Your other used to be NBA allstar SF has a bad shoulder injury he says he is playing through, but, said shoulder could at any moment give out and put him on the shelf for a while. Carmello is coping with all this by getting thrown out of games on T's. The other marquee player you signed to a 4 year 72M$ investment in Joakim Noah doesn't seem to be working out either. Noah is struggling offensively and the bum knees the Knicks knew he had coming in have robbed him of his lateral quickness inside and made him an average defensive player at best. When he isn't running down his players the quote a minute Zen Master sits stoically courtside watching it all burn to the ground. Yep...Just another season in Gotham.
The Hinkies are not last or even second last but have surged to 13th. Lets not get to giddy with The Process as they still suck out loud with 10 wins in 35 chances and have a oddly built team that needs lots of work to become cohesive. But tonight, warts and all, look for the Hink's who are at home to beat the reeling Knicks. With a win the Sixers draw closer to the Magic and 12th spot. Dizzying heights for this flea bag of a franchise. If this happens look for DefCon4 to be in full swing at MSG.

Washington at Boston The Chowderheads after coughing up a hair ball to the raps last night in a game they had in hand return home to face the recently surging Whiz who have won 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10. Both teams are on a B2B.
Good matchup of backcourts tonight as Wall and Beal take on Thomas and Bradely who should play tonight. Gortat and Morris should come out on top on the battle on the glass over Amir and Horford. A win puts the Whiz in 5th and 2 games up on the Bulls in the loss column. A win for the Celtics rights the ship after that tough loss to the Raps. The Whiz can really use the win but they suck on the road. It pains me to pick them but the Leprachauns take this one by a whisker. Please let me be wrong John Wall.

Orlando in LaLa Land vs the Clips. As the third bad lab experiment in the east (the other two are the Bulls and Knicks.. and maybe the Pacers make it four) the Magic didn't have very much in the way of expectations to live up to but have managed to be below that low bar. They are currently 7 games under 500 and have the next 5 on the road. When they get home they have the Bucks and Warriors waiting for them. Its conceivable they drop 6 of the next 7 and land firmly in the lottery. It starts tonight vs the Clips who have their own crosses to bear but Chris Paul , Deandre Jordan and JJ Reddick will handle the Magicians by double digits. Rob Hennigan, GM of the Magic, is on the hottest seat in the league outside of Chicago.
Watch for the for rumors to start on some of the Magics good to very good ,but ill fitted to this teams current construct, players. Serge Ibalka, Nik Vucevic, Mario Hezonja and Elfrid Payton. Hey.. you can finish in the lottery without these guys too.
A sweep last night on the Nostrodomus front....a semi sterling 3 and 0

I see others have posted on it but how New York Knicks was that one !! Up 10 with 2 and half to go and they coughed that up and let the Hinkies get to within one. Still they still had possession with 27 seconds to go and after a time out down the floor they came. Rose dribbled by his man and drew the help defender in and skipped the ball to a wide open Zinger for a corner 3. AND ZINGER AIR BALLS IT. He missed short by close to 2 feet. A mad scramble ensues as the Hinkies come down the floor with all the poise of kids coming out the doors of any grammar school on the last day of school in June and a last second shot by a guy filling out the roster on the Hinkies goes in. You could hear the call for the defibrillators as all the air came out of New York City at once.
Check out CBS's New York beat guy Bill Reiter post mortem......http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/wh...phil-are-dead/

The Whiz were in it against the Chowderheads all game long. Lots of lead changes in a really competitive game. The Whiz were down a point with 4 and half to go in the game but went cold and didn't get a point for 3 minutes. Isiah Thomas is the Boston Celtics.

The Magic put up a fight leading the game by 2 going into the 4th but fell to the Clips. I fell asleep before the end of the game so no idea if the Magic lost it or the Clips won it. Magic are fading ...

                  And on to tonights matchups...

Da Bulls vs Knicks in the Mecca If your a fan of dark comedy this is must see TV. The Bulls limp into NYC without Jimmy Butler who is still tired after putting up 42 against the Raps. Hoiberg, whose disdain for Rondo has grown so big that he is going to start the turnover and air ball machine known as Micheal Carter Williams over Rajon. Dwaaaaaaaaayne Wade sat out the game against the Whiz so thinking his ailing knees and back and whatever else will be ready to go tonight. The Knicks.. well there just isn't much to say after last night and to compound that .. they are on a B2B. Still there is only so much humiliation a truly great player can take before he rises up. Watch for Carmelo to bring the Knicks back from the brink with a win tonight. He will receive a ton of help from Noah who wants to show up GarPax really really badly.

Indy at the Pacers in London The Pacers are winners of 5 in a row after losing 4 in a row. The Nuggets have lost 4 in a row and are busy trying to reshape their roster after hanging a for sale sign around the neck of Jusuf Nurkic and are likely making and taking calls on Gallo and Chandler to gauage the what the market may offer. Its a neutral site to be sure so look for the Pacers who are a) playing for something and b) have Paul George to beat the Nuggets who are yet again playing for next year.

Detroit at Golden State The Pistons are labouring through a 4 and 6 stretch but still they are only 2 games behind the Whiz who hold the 8th and last spot. With 42 to play and this being GSW Stans boys can probably absorb another loss and still stay in range seeing its GSW and all... but ... GSW has had trouble with teams that have big tough front lines. Memphis with Gasol/Randoph has beat them twice and the Heat with Whiteside gave them all they could handle the other night. Can Drummond and Harris make life tough for the smallish warriors and steal one right in Northern Cali ? Only if the jump shooting Warriors go cold from the outside... which is unlikely... so the upset special is pretty long odds. Warriors by 8.

EDIT: Epic miss on the Indy vs Nuggets call... Nugs win by 28. Wonder if any of the Pacers made curfew last night.

2 of 3 .. . Epic miss on the Indy game though.

Love the CBS guys.. yesterday Bill Reiter's headline screams that the "KNICKS ARE DEAD". But today, Matt Moore is talking the Knicks and the playoffs. This after the hapless Knicks beat the equally hapless Bulls. Matt.. SMH.

                    Tonight...

Charlotte in Philly Joel Embiids drive to the playoffs comes up short tonight. The Buzz need a win badly. They have stumbled over the last few games and a loss here puts them right on the bubble. Look for the buzz to put in a workmanlike effort and put up the W. To much Batum and Kemba for The Process to handle.

Miami in Milwaukee The Alphabet has been under the weather for the past few games but its reported he is back to form... and thats more than enough to douse the truly awful Heat. Bucks need to keep pace with the Hornets and stay way from 8th and an opening round match with the Lebrons.

Boston in Atlanta Hawks after losing 10 of 11 have now reeled of 7 W's in a row and draw the wannabe Celts at home. With a win the Hawks draw even in the loss column with the Leprechauns and would be a 1/2 game back for 3rd place which would let them avoid the dreaded Lebron bracket. The Celtics beat the Whiz last time out with a late 4Q push. They still got cleaned out on the boards and tonight they meet Dwight who singlehandedly killed the Raps 2 weeks ago by providing enough Oboards for the Hawks to crush us with 2nd chance points. Thinking we see more of the same tonight as Howard crushes the Celts bigs on the board and the Hawks win tonight.

Orlando in PortlandTwo teams really going nowhere.. Orlando is looking for a life presever on this road trip while Portland, to avoid a total flush on the season, is trying to stay in 8th in the west for the right to be crushed by GSW in round 1. Lillard and McCollum do their thing and the Blazers get a W. This is must avoid streaming.

Lebrons in SactoNormally I don't put the Lebrons in the forecast as they looked to have 1st place sewn up and are in no way shape or form in any kind of a race to make the playoffs. However they have stumbled twice now on the western swing and our Raps are but 3 back for 1st. Can Boogie keep the lane closed to the 900HP diesel powered Lebron James ? No. Lebrons win.

Pistons in Utah Been a long swing for the men from Motown. Got dusted last night by the Warriors and as a reward they get to play a B2B at altitude in Salt Lake City vs the Jazz. Salt Lake is almost a mile above sea level just like Denver. The Pistons lungs will be burning along with their chances tonight. The Jazz, led by Hayward and Gobert and Favours and George Hill, rack up another win on their way to eventually catching and passing the Clips for 4th in west. Could they catch Houston for 3rd ? Prolly not.

No not at all. He's a prima donna bitch who right as a rookie was complaining about not getting respect...and never acted respectfully on the court. One of the most overrated players of all time who'd be a long shot at best to make HOF(a couple of all star games and no significant team success) if two players that were better than him didn't get traded to Boston.

3 outta 6.. great night at the plate in baseball.. not so great in prognosticating....

Pelicans visit Chicago They need a M*A*S*H unit tonight in Chicago. Anthony Davis will dress and play tonight after getting cheap-shotted by Kyle OQuinn. Likely not at full speed but close. The Bulls list Butler as questionable and Mirotic won't play. If Butler can play he won't be at 100%. Wade played heavy minutes in NY in a loss. The Bulls who still can't shoot when healthy are hurting more than the Pelicans. Nawlins steals one tonight.

Joel Embiid goes to Washington Joel is driving the Hinkies closer to respectibility... but not to the playoffs. He is a fun guy to along with his basketball skill... but it won't be enough to beat the Whiz on their home court tonight. A win for the Whiz moves them to 6th.

Orlando travels to Mormon Country The Magicians pulled a bunny out of their collective hats last night in Portland. Didn't see that one coming. Tonight its a B2B and they draw the now healthy Jazz who are also on a B2B but is a home and home B2B. Liking the Jazz who slept at home last night after demolishing the Pistons where the Magic lose and hour and likely got in pretty late. Jazz by double digits.
