The celtics are adding stars and top 5 picks every summer. The raptors have digressed and for the first time in the ujiri era it feels like we're out of ideas or a real plan on how to improve.
And yet, the Celtics have won exactly the same number of championships as the Raptors over the last 8 years. In fact, over the last 5 years, the Raptors have won more playoff series (one this year, two last year), than the Celtics (two this year). The Celtics are adding top 5 picks because of a trade that was made in 2013 with a desperate Nets team that was trying to 'win now' to generate fan enthusiasm for a new arena, as well as appease a demanding owner (Prokhorov).

So for those posters who were advocating for not bringing any of the Toronto free agents back and tanking - you lose on that opportunity to acquire more assets down the road from a team desperate to take a run at the playoffs/championship (in addition to potentially hindering the ability of younger players to develop by putting them in positions to fail too soon, diminishing revenue of the team by putting an inferior product on the floor etc) It's unlikely that a deal of such colossal stupidity will happen again, but there's a clear history of teams overpaying for players at the deadline / during the offseason if they think there's a chance to advance in the playoffs.

Just imagine the chaos of transactions from Eastern Conference teams next year if LeBron decides to 'take his talents to LA'

Played well in limited minutes in the playoffs this year. Haven't heard of him being a locker room cancer though.
You may not remember that he refused to work for the Raptors on draft night cause he told them he don't wanna be drafted by them.

As far as i'm concern he can still FO.

        Kelly Olynk Anyone?
I wouldn't mind that either not sure what kind of money he'll be worth though.

        • I wouldn't be mad at just unleashing Bruno/OG and let the chips fall where they may. Our big money short term contracts should be tradeable if this year ends up being a big bust.

          • Players Tribune article caused the circus. What a loser. Celtics can have him.

            • A Crowder for Valanciunas trade makes a lot of sense for both teams, but you don't trade with rivals so that won't be happening.

                And the Raptors.

Hayward isn't that good. Y'all act like they got PG or Butler lol.

Good point and the main point is Boston needs to shed salary and JV makes 9 million more per year than Crowder. Also JV makes a super expensive backup to Horford.

He is a 15 ppg guy in Boston getting paid the max. We will see how it works.

imagine we do that, dump carroll, and sign olynyk... hahaha there'd be some extra heat between us , highly unlikely.

Hayward is pretty good, better then DeRozan.

strongly disagree, we swept them last year

To be fair its been 5 years since he averaged 15 ppg or less and his scoring has increased every year. He averaged 21 ppg last year and 19 ppg the 2 years before.

I still think we'd take anyone in the East except for the Cavs this year at least. That may change within a couple years if we don't make some moves though.
