oh look the LMA talk is back?

Honestly at this point aldridge will get run off the court here for the same reasons JV did. Not quick enough to play Casey's moronic hedging scheme. Maybe if Greer were still here it'd make sense.

Not to mention he's a moron who wouldn't buy in to the best coach of all time's system, is older and seemingly on the downhill quickly, and will likely bolt anyways.

I'd rather keep JV and Cory than trade for Aldridge at this point. Also, if I'm JV i'm praying for this trade to happen lol.
Don't forget LMA is top-3 in the NBA for most mid-range jumpers with DeMar and Melo.

If we add LMA to DD it's going to be nothing but long 2s all day long.

        • Solid draft pick by Masai.

Surprised it only took an injured Lavine, Dunn, and a pick swap to get Jimmy Butler.

          • Draft Thoughts.

            1. Raps get another project. But then if you are not picking in the top 3 -5 they are all projects and pretty much says PJ Tucker got rented for 2 2nd rounders.
            2. The cap dropped by 2M$. This is going to sting.
            3. Oh what to do with the Lithuananian ambassador to the ACC is still the elephant in the room.
            4. The Celtics fuck up once again. Missed out on Butler. No Porzingis. No George and they traded out of being able to take the best talent available. They got an inside ISO scorer which is not the direction the NBA is going in.
            5. Jimmy Butler is out of the East. Yeah !!!!

So the second hand rumour from Grange after he read a post by Zach Lowe (who is no more wired into the Raps front office than you are) was that JV was being shopped. The rumour is worthless but the financial aspects of the Raps having to carry JV after they sign Lowry and Ibaka is real.

So if you are in the camp that the Raps have to shed some salary (and believe that simply saying the words trade Demarre Carroll is an actual plan) then the 15M$ per that JV makes is a reasonable target to look to move that has some value in it.
So who needs something the Raps are trying to sell ? Let’s discount the idea that divisional trades matter because they don’t with the current playoff format that says top 8 make the post season regardless of division standings.

Teams with a starting big that don’t need another. Washington (Gortat), Charlotte (Howard) , Milwaukee (Maker/Monroe) , Indy (Turner) , Chicago (Lopez) , Miami (Whiteside), Detroit (Drummond), Magic (cant trade with them), Sixers (Embid), Nets (they just got Mozgov and drafted Allen), Warriors (Paculia) Spurs (they need to shed salary as well), Clips (Jordan), Jazz (Gobert), OKC (Adams/Kanter), Memphis (Gasol), Nuggets (Jokic), Pelicans (Cousins), Kings ( Skal/Giles/Greek Guy), Wolves (Towns/Dieng), Lakers ( want cap space for next year) Blazers (same spot as Raps looking to dump salary)

Which leaves the Suns who have cap space and Tyson Chandler and Alex Len .. JV would be an upgrade here and he is still young Possibly the Mavericks who have Noel and dreams of landing Chris Paul or Paul George... and the Rockets who are hugely ambitious as always but if they strike out on George or Paul or Lowry could have a home for JV as an upgrade for them over Capela and Harrell.

Three teams. All maybe… Looks like the Raps are Luxury tax bound.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

            • Why not the Bulls as a landing spot for JV? He's young enough to be part of a rebuild and they have the trade exception from the Jimmy Butler deal.

The thing is this: the Celtics desperately needed someone who could create their own shot, because the playoffs revealed that that was their biggest weakness. They only had Isaiah as a go-to scorer and they needed a second one of those. Tatum is an excellent choice, because dude gets buckets, and he can pass as well, and he shot 85% on free throws in college which means he should be able to develop into a decent NBA 3-point threat at least. Tatum isn't good on defense, but he's going to a team that can teach him to at least be a non-negative-value defender and that'll be enough.

Now, granted, Porzingis or Butler would both have been better. But Tatum is a very good pick for the Celtics.

It's not a terrible idea, but then the question becomes: what do you get back from them? They're rebuilding, so they won't trade picks or good young players, and they have no valuable veterans on cheap contracts.

Also, the offseason doesn't end with the draft. Ainge is likely waiting to see who he can get in FA (Hayward?) and then revisit trade options for George. I wouldn't write the Celtics off just yet.

                    • Considering the cap got smaller, and MLSE doesn't have the best track record when it comes to spending, how the hell are the Raptors supposed to re-sign Lowry and Ibaka? Tucker? Patterson?

We'd need Dan here to chime in on the luxury tax potential here, but I highly doubt we re-sign both Lowry and Ibaka.

                      • adds a winger, sheds some cap, we get a faster center. (not better but faster)

kings need veteran presence. (7 free agents)

                        thoughts?

Sacramento loves Temple and WCS. I doubt they'd be willing to do that trade.

                          • Any reason why CJo isn't expendable? Expiring contract that's eating away at Delon's minutes? Delon can't make the next step without Lowry or Cjo out of the picture.

I'd be calling in anyways, especially if we sign Serge.

Hell, we could even try and dump CoJo there also.

I would have taken Jackson ahead of tatum and traded brown. I like Jackson more than lonzo.
