Even with the Kyrie destination now available for betting, bookmakers have us behind Cleveland, Boston, and Washington to win the East. We're tied with the Bucks.

How the fuck can we be behind Washington

Was he on the news for that?

      exactly.

I mean it's not that unreasonable. They lasted longer (# of games) in the playoffs than we did last year, and their stars tend to actually perform to expectations in the playoffs, while Lowry and DeMar tend to fall off quite a bit.

Yeah, there's only a slight difference in talent between last year's Cavs & Celtics. Very slight.

The link goes to baseball game bets. Where are the NBA odds?
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Objective observers would say we're hardly in the driver's seat in the East.

Never confuse setting an early betting line and a chance to bring in money to the sports book with what unfolds as the season hits stride in December.

Philly has better odds at Bodog right now than the raps do. You would be hard pressed to find a GM in the league who would agree with that. They don't lay sucker bets. Rubes and fans do.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Cavs +/- with Irving on the floor and Lebron off was absolutely terrible. As in really bad. Irving and Love are both stat stuffers, super talented in certain ways but the holes in their games are just too much. Making either guy your 1A is a bad idea.

Irving to the Knicks makes too much karmic sense. He'll go there, be the man, and it will be a disaster for both sides.
Someone on twitter, maybe Zach Lowe?, suggested a stright up Kyrie for Cousins trade - mostly as an interesting thought experiment. And I agree - I'd be so curious to see if 3 players who have each spent their careers putting up numbers as the Man on teams that never won (Kyrie, Love, Cousins), could come together on one team and actually win.

                  • How about Isaiah Thomas plus pick(s) for Kyrie.

Again, if Lowry didn't miss 17 or whatever games last year to finish the season, we would've finished 1st or 2nd in East. Which means we wouldn't have to deal with the Cavs in the 2nd round.

Also, DeRozan missed a lot of games last year too.

The Raptors(when healthy) are the 2nd best team in the EC.

For sure. Using preseason future odds as an "objective" list of how the Eastern Conference will play out just means you don't know how sports gambling works.

Horford and Bradley missed a lot of games for the Celtics last year.

And they finished 1st in the Conference last year. If we played them in the 2nd round and not the Cavs, we would've beaten them.

We underperformed in this year's playoffs, not guaranteed we would have.
