Nope. We took our weakest position and turned it into arguably our strongest overall position (starter + bench) and freed up minutes for our 3rd or 4th best player (Powell). MU removed all excuses for the Raps not getting to the ECF again. It's up to Casey and the players now.
right and if people are worried about not getting boogie... even though we made an offer. We would still be dealing with weaknesses at the 4 spot... so that wouldn't necesssarily help us again.

What? No, that's not how it works at all. A player's max salary is defined by their first year salary, which is 35% of the cap in Lowry's case. For the salary in other years of the deal, it is limited by maximum raises (or drops) from the previous season. In the new CBA, Bird Rights give the team the option of offering a total of 5 years with annual raises equal to 8% of the first year of the deal. What the cap does in future seasons has nothing to do with the contract at all - only this summer's cap number matters.
Ok. Thanks for the clarification. 35.7 applies for this year, and the 8% annual raises will happen for the other years. Did the calculation and the number is around 5/209. We might get a small discount like what DD gave up(14 million over 5 years/2.8/yr). Not going to expect more, but would be thrilled if we got more. Either way,I'm comfortable paying that much money to Kyle. Let him finish his career off here.

No need to revisit, the trade worked, Ibaka is playing well and fitting in nicely with the starting unit so there is that. There is also the issue with free agency in which Ibaka also is more incline to re-sign with the Raptors as opposed to Milsap. Lastly the fact that we got Ibaka in a bargain price is a no brainer, where Milsap would have cost the Raptors an arm and a leg and as a result whatever extra he was going to bring to the table over Ibaka would have been downgraded due to larger depth holes.

Therefore its a win, win and win.

Ibaka and Tucker were the perfect additions to this team. They have brought back what we lost in Bismack and then added 2nd/3rd offence weapon.

For what really? I loved Ross but he was horrid in each playoffs and was a constant frustration with his inconsistency. Masai pulled off 2 great trades around the deadline and should make the ECF a much more competitive series. Really depends on how Kyle comes back.

A Millsap trade would have depleted our team more. While Milsap has a better offencive game than Ibaka, Ibaka has the edge on him on D. Defence and toughness is what we really needed.

With hindsight, you do the Ibaka trade ten times out of ten.

The total x-factor in this trade has been the impact of Tucker. Could not have predicted it's magnitude and it may ultimately be as important as trading Ibaka for Ross.

I actually think advanced metrics may support Milsap offensively. He is better at defending on the perimeter, but Ibaka is better as a rim protector. I think the biggest thing with Ibaka is the ability to have a true small ball 5 if we need it. JV has been upping his game so we need him less at the 5, but it will come into play in the playoffs.

Given PM's injury history as of late I think I agree with puffer 10/10 you do this trade.

100% and to not give up a 1st rounder to do it is huge. He has such a defensive presence. He is great at passing. I dare to say he is our Bruce Bowen minus the Karate Kicks. His impact is huge. We now have ppl who are willing to get after guys like Demar for not trying on D. You see him talking after every play after everything and he works so so hard to make sure everyone is doing their job.

He is almost like a floor general in some ways for the defence.
