  • Everything Cory Joseph thread!

I tried to do a search of old threads and could not find a Cory Joseph.

I know Cory has not had the year we have been hoping for, but he is a big part of the team.

Last night his defense was what we all think it should be every game and he was good enough on offense to keep the other team honest. Getting all his minutes as the true point guard I think helps as he has been struggling in the 2 pg line up with Kyle.

It looks like Lowry will miss a couple games and I am glad Cory will have some confidence going forward to guild on the win streak. With the addition of PJ and Serge I hope to see more of Cory just playing minutes to rest Lowry and less minutes beside.

Merge if I missed the CoJo thread.

    • He looked like a different man in the second half the play where out battled Horford on that semi breakaway showed a lot of determination.

      • He plays some truly inspired defense when he's beside other defensive specialists. I don't think this is a one game thing, I'm encouraged.

        • maybe the "mistake" that Ibaka called out at practice was cory joseph forgetting to play defence for 90% of the season to date. lol.

          • I haven't minded Cory too much this season. He has struggled but I haven't been able to look past the heaping pile of garbage that has been starting at SF for us this year to notice as much.

Hopefully last night is a turning point for him but I also think Wright will be a better PG in the future and would like to see him get some minutes.

Joseph is only 8 months older than Wright and has was more NBA experience, still lots of room to improve as well. I like the length that Wright brings and the options that brings. I can't say he will be better than Joseph in the future, but will provide a different look.

As far as the eye test goes, Cory does not seem to be playing as well as last year.

Looking at his numbers he has shown improvement over last year in all shooting percentages, 2s, 3s, and freethrows, scoring is up a tick in 3 less minutes per game and his rebounding and steals are equal. His assists per game are down a tick, but not sure how that plays out on a per 36 basis. Overall he has looked out of sorts, but this could be the beginning of the Cory we need for the stretch run.

Yeah, his shooting has improved noticeably by eye and stats. His advances stats have declined and his overall drop off shows by eye too.
The only game I went to this yr, I had good seats so I went early. Cory was the only one out. He was working hard on his shot and spent more time practicing than anyone else.
There's reason to be hopeful for his defense since he has better defenders around him now. I question his vision still and versatility still tho. Best stand still dribbler in the L?

                    • Another chance for Cory to step up as the starter today. He handled Thomas well, now he gets Lillard and CJ, better bring the A game.

And he did. Get's an "A" on the front page (or should).

                        • The Lowry injury could be a blessing in disguise, forcing him to get some much needed rest, and allowing Cojo enough minutes to break out of his half-season funk. Both factors will be HUGE come April.

Agreed. Well as long as Kyle actually rests and doesn't come back too early
I relish negativity and disappointment. It is not healthy. Somebody buy me a pony.

Looks like Cory has the keys to the car for a good stretch. Time to see what he is made of for the long haul.

                              • IMHO Cory can handle the job. I just hope he doesn't just do another version of Lowry/Westbrook PG and facilitate a bit more.
