Matt D is just sticking to the script: JV missed two shots on unlucky bounces and the cavs made a three while he was out there so obviously he's the problem. The fact that we were up 8 when he went out is a statistical anomaly.

Yup, because trading 2s for 3s is still better than trading 0s for 3s.

To say nothing of 3s have much lower raw efficiency and a lot of teams that depend on the 3 depend a lot on volume of 3s taken. So if you slow a team down and can get into your halfcourt D more, you can much more sharply limit the amount of 3s they get and hopefully cool down their offence. Likey works better than if you match up small and try to play up at a higher pace.
