Wright taking the next step is the key factor in this trade imo.

Masai is doing great things. Shipping out Cory Joseph for CJ Miles was brilliant and getting rid of Demarre ( I need a hair cut) Carroll as a salary dump is to be commended. But if Casey still remains as the coach of this team all these moves will be for nought.

So as of right now our lineup is:

        Lowry/Wright/FVV
        DD/Powell
        Miles/OG/Bruno
        Ibaka/Siakam/Hamilton
        JV/Poeltl/Bebe

Still got a roster spot open, I wonder who we could get for the minimum.
        Powell is our statting SF.

Casey has shown some improvement in his coaching over the years, give him some credit. Yes, he's not Steve Kerr but wait and see how the season progresses and how the pieces all fit before saying it's all "for naught".

              "Yes he's not Steve Kerr"

Steve Kerr has Curry, KD, Klay and Green.

I wasn't talking about players he has, I was talking about a more creative, motion offensive playbook, which even with Casey's improvements, he does not have (yet at least).

Haven't followed too much of CJ Miles, but I'm stoked for this trade and to see how he fits with whatever it is we want to do this year. Sad to see Cory go, but that just means Delon time.

When Claw Likes a trade, there is hope.

Getting rid of Joseph is the greatest move Ujiri has done this offseason. Him and Derozan pairing is like gnashing your teeth in purgatory.

Now we can expect more moves to happen.

Now it's Derozan's turn to make this happen.

Gay, Carroll, Tucker (to certain extent) failed.

I hope it's fucking time to give up the ball.

i'm reading comments from Pacers fans on his defense on reddit and some other sites. Some people are saying he's no better than DeRozan on that end and that they wouldn't want him guarding the opponent's best wing.

Kerr won without KD also. Mark Jackson couldn't win with that group.

                            Those people are fucking clueless.

Shooting though. He's basically a deadeye guy (a quick breakdown by Double Helix over at that other site). And that's exactly what we needed.

Carroll could sometimes make a perfectly-timed wide open shot, played average defense, and got paid 15 mill.

CJ can make all kinds of shots but is, at the end of the day, a spot-up specialist - again, precisely what we needed with Ross and Patterson gone. He also plays average defense. We get him for 8.

I'd guess Casey has him starting for pure spacing, withholding Powell's explosive contributions for the 6th man role. Either way, I love this move.

EDIT - how does his wingspan compare to Terrence's?

We were much better with Carroll off the court last season (see Basketball Reference) both offensively and defensively.

The Pacers were much better with CJ Miles on the court last season, both offensively and defensively.

This is a big upgrade over Carroll at half the price, great deal for the Raps.

I think Wright is a superior player to CoJo at this point, so I'm glad we cleared the way for him to get more minutes.

We are going to be a lot better this year than last year, and we still have JV and Bebe to trade if something opportune comes up.
