Poeltl doensn't play more minutes, because JV or Bebe need to get shopped. If there is an other reason, Casey is indeed an idiot. He completely took Poeltl's confidence. That's why he misses free throws. It's hard to get in rhythm if you don't play constantly. Poeltl shot 77% (20/26) over the summer with the Austrian national team.

It's going to continue to happen because Casey views him as the same type of center as JV (which he sort of is in some ways, not so much in others), Bebe gives a much different look and also has more experience than Poeltl (plus the advanced stats grade him very highly). So until JV is moved Poeltl will not play.

It's more of the role card stuff. JV fills the role of the inside banger center who can rebound at a high rate. Poeltl is 2nd choice in that role. But as the backup, Casey wants a high energy rim-protector who blocks shots and plays above the rim on offense. That's Bebe not Poeltl.

Can't even really blame him for playing Bebe anyway, he's had the best advanced numbers on the team for 3 years now save Lowry (and 2Pat when he was here).

It shouldn't be about what's "easier" to do. We need to win games. We're already 4 games back of Boston. We need to get the #1 seed so we have homecourt throughout the playoffs. This team regularly chokes and throws away playoff games and we need as much of a buffer as possible for that. This is the year to get it, the Cavs are floundering but we're only 7-5 so far.

It just doesn't make sense he's not getting more minutes. Bebe is a pending free agent and the raps have potential tax issues. If the plan is for Bebe to walk for nothing why not play and develop jakob?

For me it's JV who needs to be dealt.

While I agree with the sentiment, coaching egos requires more balance than that. You can't screw over Bebe and risk an issue in the locker room unless they have already committed to moving him or not trying to sign him. If that is the case then yes by all means bench him and give Poeltl his mins.
