A friend of mine is a branch manager at a Scotiabank location in Ottawa. He said there's corporate mandate to reduce in-house spending (he's not even allowed to expense birthday or sympathy cards for his staff). I guess all those savings went towards the ACC deal, lol.

Heard or read somewhere that a good handle would be The Vault........
I would forget the ACC if that stuck.

    Meh

Air Canada Centre just works better with the whole 'We the North' thing but whatever.
Yeah, couple of write ups I saw claiming the ACC (as a name) had no relevance whatsoever to the teams that played there were obviously not from the perspective of basketball fans. Having "Canada" on the building kind of worked for We The North + the only Canadian NBA franchise, also VINCE "AIR CANADA" CARTER wtf I have not seen one person mention this yet. FFS. Is history so easily forgotten? (Tiny shout out to DeMar "Heir Canada" DeRozan, I think he got that once or twice.)

I feel like that's already used as a nickname for one of the Bank sponsored Arenas... maybe not though...

I still call them Skydome (Roger's Centre), Paramount Theatre (Scotiabank Theatre), and I will continue to call the ACC the ACC.

Hey it worked with Canada's Wonderland (for a time, Paramount Canada's Wonderland) so a man can dream can't he?

I do believe this is the case. Pretty sure MLSE paid for the whole thing after they bought it mid-construction.

There's multiple arenas and stadiums in every province either named rogers or scotiabank. There's not enough billion dollar companies in Canada..banks and mobile phone providers...

My biggest gripe is why wouldn't they have still called it "rogers skydome"?

We will not go quietly in the night. We will rage against the dying light. We will study every buzzer beater with intensified might, because somethin with the NBA doesn't smell right.
