Boston isn't ending up in the lottery, let's not be silly. Even without Hayward all year they're a more talented roster than last year. I'd expect them to be in the 46-52 win range.
Hayward absence will not cause much of an impact during the season cause the Celts have depth but the playoffs could spell trouble for them.

They gave up Bradley, Olynyk, Amir, Thomas and Jae Crowder... good players for sure but no elite talent. They brought in Kyrie Irving, Morris and Tatum... a perennial all star and the third overall pick in a loaded draft. They're not as deep this season but they've got more high end talent than last year; and I don't think it's close.

You left out Thomas on their departure list

Uh..... Celtics also lost their best player, IT, who had a season for the ages last year. No way Kyrie even gets close to the numbers IT put up. Tatum is a 19 year old rookie. Morris is 'meh'

Kyrie is a better player than Thomas. There's a reason that Boston had to give up IT, plus an asset, plus an asset, plus a really valuable draft pick to get Kyrie, and it's not because Ainge doesn't know what he's doing.

Kyrie and isaiah is a saw off if kyrie is lucky, because isaiah was a top 10 player last year, defense be damned. So basically comparing a raw rookie and "the other morris" to Bradley, crowder, Olynyk and amir, or 3/5 of the old starting lineup.

Without Hayward they have basically the same high end talent with way less depth

Age? Size? Potential? Kyrie has never had a season as good as Thomas was in 2016-17 despite the fact most consider him better

Kyrie might be better than IT. But last year, he wasn't.

So Kyrie is more talented? Sounds like you agree with me.

Not really. Kyrie still has a lot to prove... that he's a winner, like IT already did. So the jury's out on him. The Celtics didn't want to "back up the brinks truck" for a 5-8' PG who far exceeded expectations and is older than Kyrie.

Kyrie hit one of the biggest shots in NBA finals history, is a gold medal winner at the Olympics and has an NBA title. Thomas has won 2 playoff series in his career.

                            Lebron James.

Of course Lebron had a huge part in Irving's NBA championship... that doesn't make the statement that Kyrie has something to learn from IT when it comes to winning any less silly. Thomas has won absolutely nothing.

I think we're way off topic here. The point here is that the Celtics have arguably less talent than they had last year with Hayward out....and that Kyrie-led team (minus Lebron) has never won anything significant or even made it out of the lottery, let alone make the playoffs.
