I think his slow start this year has something to do with it but what people need to realize is that he comes in, signs a big deal, new player in his first full year - guy feels pressure to prove himself, be productive, etc. He was clearly forcing shots and forcing his game trying to make an impact. Since he's settled down and settled in he's been very good.
Yep, not to mention that "culture change" that seemed to have a few guys a little off for the first dozen games. Lowry, JV..really derozan was the only guy to hit the ground running. Last 6 weeks ibaka has been BETTER than what we were expecting to get, contrary to the negative posts usually directed towards him

LeBron just doesn't have the same competitive fire or killer instinct as Jordan.
Lebron is incredible in terms of skills, size, and IQ, but MJ had everything Lebron does save for the body of a PF but MJ had a viciousness Lebron doesn't even approach. Might have been the polar opposite of "lets be friends" LBJ, actually. Without baseball, Jordan would have had an 8 year window of absolutely dominating the entire league. Lebron's dominance hasn't approached MJ's, I don't think that's really even debatable.

That said - the teams LBJ and Bosh left behind sucked. Lottery teams without those guys. MJ left the Bulls for baseball and they were a very, very good team without him. Those weren't the same situations at all.

I think his dominance is somewhat debateable in closeness to MJ..7 straight finals is damn impressive eastern conference or not. Too big blemishes losing to Dallas in 2011 and spurs in 2014 (more so Dallas tho, that spurs team was the equivelant basketball porn- hard on inducing)

The Bulls never had competition as good as the current warriors however, or even as good as the 14 spurs imo. I don't know how many times the 96 bulls beat the 2016/17 warriors, but I'm sure they'd both at least lose 1 out of 3 series

“I would say we are looking to use our cap space actively,” Cuban said Monday. “We will take back salary to get picks or guys we think can play.” This doesn’t mean you should expect a blockbuster before the deadline. But the kindling wood for a bonfire is in place. And don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of speculation between now and then.

Do we even have picks to trade? Only trade I'd even consider with Dallas is just a JV/Matthews swap but even that I'd be hesitant.

No picks this year (neither a first or a second). All our picks are available after this year though.. but due to the Stepien rule we can't trade the 2019 pick yet. Also since the 2018 pick has some protections it makes it difficult to trade out future picks as well (plus dangerous as at that time we might start tanking).

I suspect any trade we make will be in the summer when all our assets become available. We won't be restricted by the hard cap. Can use the full TPE's. Can trade our 2019+ picks. Powell can be moved too. JV also would have one less year on his deal.

I just posted it for informational purposes. But Masai did pursue Matthews during free agency so a JV-Matthews swap wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility, especially considering the Nerlens Noel experiment has been a complete bust for Dallas.

But they might wait to see where they pick as Mo Bamba might also be a possibility.

Too much movement in the above posts.
Simple, 2nd round pick for Vince Carter for the the rest of the year.
Veteran presence, three point shooting off the bench. He would work his tail off on defence being back in the 6ix.
                  Thoughts?

Eh not too keen on bringing in VC. I see no reason to give up an asset for him, may as well wait until he gets bought out. I would look at trading one of Wright and FVV. Seems like this off season Masai has to choose to extend Wright or sign FVV, may want to try to get some value before hand. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping both of them till for the playoffs if I were Masai mind you.

Dont really see any trade materializing for Raps, but who knows.

                      1. He's making $8 million this year, so I'm not sure who you want to send over salarywise to get him.
                      2. Even if he made the vet min I wouldn't waste a 2nd on his candy ass, especially since we don't have one this year and would have to dip into the future.

                      • The scenario where Vince ends up here is he gets waived by the March 1st deadline, then signs here on a rest-of-season minimum contract to fit under the tax.

No way the Raps give up assets, or go into the tax for a hired gun.

Could see the same scenario for Tyreke Evans, though he'd probably have a few suitors.

I dont know about you guys but I am down with trading Serge. The man shoots to many jumpers and barely drives anymore. I understand we need to spread the floor and its great having a stretch 4 but he is too inconsistent with his shooting. JV has been killing it. If we can get another big to replace Ibaka, ill be down for that.

                          Toronto Raptors get
                          Marc Gasol
                          N.Mirotic

                          Memhpis gets
                          JVal

                          Chicago Bulls gets
                          Serge Ibaka

I would love this....dont think the other two teams will go for it since we have no picks lol
This would be a bad move. Marc has decreased in his defencive productivity. Mirotitc is good on offence but bad on defence... Another thing is JV is our best rebounder... so you are not getting any rebounding big back... I don't like it.

                            A procedural question.....

The Raps are not eligible to trade directly with the Orlando Magic for a one year period under the terms of the Jeff Weltman signing in Orlando....Too bad because the fire sale in Orlando is about to go full throttle before Feb 6 .

                            So the question...

Can they be part of a three way trade where Orlando concludes a transaction with team B and susbequent to that completed transaction.... the Raps make the trade with team B for that same Orlando player ?
I think that includes 3 way trades.

our first pick would come in 2019.. I don't think this is a good idea incase everyone starts to decline at least we have a pick.

We can't trade our 2019 1st round pick until after the coming draft.
