Why couldn't Bradley be handled like most mid to late round picks? Park him on the bench and let him enter the game in a reserve role, at his true position, when he's ready. One of Calderon or Jack is going to be shipped and so he could spell one of those guys in a limited role. I seriously think the Raptors would handle him like the 76ers handled Jrue Holiday.

I have been looking back at the Russell Westbrook scouting reports and there are a lot of similarities. I was a big, big fan of Westbrook coming out, but I wasn't sure he would be a PG. He played off guard at UCLA and his passing and decision making was questioned. I didn't remember just how much. Westbrook, however, did play some PG at UCLA, something Bradley didn't really do at Texas.
Westbrook averaged 4.3 apg in his last season of two at UCLA. This compared to D. Collison's 3.8 apg the same season; i.e. 2007-08

I watched just about every Bruins Pac10 and NCAA tournament game that season. Westbrook shared the PG responsibilities with Collison and he was a better PG than Collison.

Assuming that the Raptors don't trade any of their perimeter players and exercise their option on Weems whose minutes is Avery going to take, Wrights?

According to 82games.com Wright played maybe 20% of his total of 1,400 minutes or about 280 minutes at PG. Those minutes will go to DeRozan.

Unless the Raptors move a wing player in a trade I just don't see whose minutes Bradley will take.

He isn't going to take any minutes from Calderon or Jack unless it is garbage time. He isn't going to play at SF. So that leaves the SG spot. Even if Weems plays all of his minutes at SF which I doubt because I think he will get more minutes than that and they will be at the SG then that leaves Belinelli's minutes.

Okay maybe Bradley could take some of Belinelli's minutes which were about 1,100 most of which as I recall were at SG. However, again my guess is that DeRozan will also take some of Belinelli's minutes.

DeRozan averaged 21 mpg this season. I see that increasing to around 25 to 30 mpg.

So maybe Bradley would get 10mpg tops with a number of DNP/CDs filling in when guys are out with injuries or in garbage time.

I still think the Raptors would be better off drafting a big who can contribute 15 mpg of solid defense and rebounding.

Of course BC could draft Bradley and wheel and deal in a way that give the Raptors the bigs that they need and open up minutes for Bradley.

Of course if Bosh and Johnson return and Johnson is able to increase his mpg to 25 or more as a bench big then the Raptors won't have the minutes available for a 4th big unless Bargnani, Bosh and/or Johnson get injured.

I think that's definitely the best role for him, if the Raptors were to draft him. He's certainly not going to make an immediate impact, though. Holiday played 24 mpg, but that was on a team that was desperate for PG help. Bradley might get 15-20 mpg.

And if he starts playing off the ball with Turkoglu, then it's going to be a LOOOONNNNGGGG development process.

I like the numbers analysis but I think that it's important to consider the situation that the player might have been in. That Texas team was an early pre-season favorite to be one of the top teams in the nation, mainly due to a recruiting class with him in it, however, that Longhorns team was not constructed well, had no cohesion and underperformed in conference play. They showed how much of a dissapointment they were with the loss to Wake in the tourney.

Not making excuses for him but sometimes when a Freshman comes into a bad situation his numbers might reflect that situation.

While he does have much to improve upon he's a 19 year old that was highly recruited due to his numerous abilities and while I don't think he'll ever have the consumate pg mentality, he can defend the perimeter, can shoot the rock (regardless of the FT %), and his ability to create his own shot is underrated. He's not a facilitator, but if you draft him you can't be expecting him to be that kind of player.

He isn't a PG, he is a combo guard. Asking him to run the point by himself would be stupid. Asking him to play alongside Hedo where Hedo initiates most of the offense would be smart.

If he stays a combo guard, he'll never be anything but a bench player in the NBA. Unless that is the future you want for him, he needs to play PG and not alongside Turkoglu. It all depends on what you want out of your 13th pick.

ESPN Draft Rater: Avery Bradley is a "Dud"

ESPN Insider came out with the result of the Draft Rater and ranked the best players in terms of "pro potential".

The top 10 were: Cousins, Turner, Wall, Monroe, Favors, Henry, Babbitt, Aminu, Johnson.

Avery Bradley was ranked #45 with a projected PER of 10.42 (Cousins was at 16.14) and Hollinger had this to say about him:

A couple of highly touted guards, Avery Bradley and Willie Warren, also failed to impress. Bradley can at least take solace in his one-and-done status -- the error rate has been higher for those players. And as a defensive specialist, his PER might not matter much anyway.

I always wondered why Wall is ranked as a sure fire can't miss prospect while Cousins, who put up better numbers on the same squad is considered the malcontent with not as high a ceiling.

Cousins is a beast with a nasty streak and if he stays in shape and is focused he will be a good pro.

As for Bradley he didn't do a lot for the Longhorns last year so I see why he would be ranked as low as he his.

Seems like Bradley is short, quick, lean and weak.

I never put much stock in the combine, but I love a good vertical leap.

Imagine Bradley, Derozan, Weems, Amir and a begrudging Bargs all on the court together. So much athleticism and alley oops going down. With four guys all running hard and playing defense, Bargs sphere if influence would shrink and I feel he would become significantly more effective.

I'm so ready to bury the Euro experiment and move into the run and gun era. Or maybe Turk is best suited to play this guys, none of them will be mistaken for a playmaker.

He is Only 6-1 1/2 ???!!! If this is the case, the plan of playing him as a shooting guard is pure suicide and I don't care how long is his reach and ...

6-1 1/2 does not cut it in this league for shooting Guard.

The more I am looking at this guy, the more disappointed I get and think that there must be better choice to pick at number 13 and this guy should be drafted at the end of the first round.
