  • So Can WE Now Criticize BC for the Marion-Turkoglu Trade?

since we ended trading away a guy that fit because we didn't think he was worth the 10 per. he wanted and ended up signing a lazy bum that was the same age for 12 million.

can we criticize that trade? the answer unlike the oneal-hibbert one is hell, yes.

You do realize that Marion was traded because he didn't want to resign here right? He was an unrestricted free agent when that 4 team trade was put together. Better to get something than let him walk away for nothing

Marion didnt want to play here and turned down a 4/38 deal, and made it clear in his interviews TO was too cold for him...harsh, but whatever.

        No

        1) Marion wouldn't have stayed
        2) The way Barbosa is playing I'd rather have him. We need his creativity off of the dribble.

Yeah, lets criticize him for being able to sign and trade a player who made it known that he didn't want to play in Toronto, for the most sought after free agent that year.

no, what i'm trying to explain is that he wanted 10 mil.. or more a year to stay in toronto. bc figured might as well let him go and play for a team he wants too for less.

and honestly, it was us and portland after turkoglu.

actually Jack signed as a restricted free agent.

I think he means that BC managed to keep our MLE (which we used to sign Jack) as part of the deal. If we had let Marion go we wouldn't have been able to get Turk, Antione or Jack...

f91ultra is right actually. With the Marion/Turkoglu trade, we got Antoine Wright, Devean George which turned into Belinelli. With the trade, it put us over the cap which gave us the MLE and LLE which we used on Jarrett Jack and Rasho. With the Jack signing, it also gave us the oppurtunity to trade a PG, which was Roko Ukic, who we traded with Delfino for Amir and Sonny Weems.

So all in all, the Turkoglu trade to Toronto brought us Wright, Belinelli, Jack, Rasho, Amir and Sonny.
