Most responses to the trade seem to be the same around the league, MJ being impatient and hurting the franchise.Heir, Prince of Cambridge

Basically they wanted to add an anti-Lance Stephenson, after seeing the devastating impact he had on the team last season, and the 2 young players (of which they had quite a few) were simply the cost to acquire such a player as Batum.

You guys are gassing up Vonleh way too much. He's still an intriguing prospect due to his mix of size/skill but a hybrid of Bosh & Love? He couldn't get on the court for a miserable Bobcats team last season and his short stint in the D-league was Bruno-esque. Sometimes when a young buck doesn't get much burn, it's because they aren't ready or aren't good enough yet… not because the coach is stubbornly refusing to play them.
Told Charlotte had concerns about Noah Vonleh's acclimation to NBA. Had difficulties picking up on plays. Questions about his feel for game. - Draftexpress after yesterday's trade.
He's still young/raw enough that he can figure it out but he's not the type of asset that you should move DD for. He's way too much of a gamble.

Vonleh got hurt in training camp, so he was way behind by the time he was able to get onto the court to practice. As a 19 yr old, that is a pretty tough set back to overcome.
Factor in Charlotte's obsession with trying to make the playoffs (even with a pretty flawed team) and they wouldn't open the rotation to the talented big.
The Bosh Love comparisons are actually from his draft profile. He is physically more like Bosh but his offence and defence both project to be somewhere between Love/Bosh. A full year younger than fellow draftee Julius Randle to boot.
DD should be gone next year. He is going to get overpaid by someone and it shouldn't be us. Moving him now makes the most sense and Vonleh has a very high ceiling.Heir, Prince of Cambridge
