Suppose we just subjectively rated players an a 1 to 10 scale based on how good they are overall this year: how much they help their team win. the scale might look something like this:
10 mvp candidates -- Lebron, Nowitsky, Howard, etc.
9 – perennial all-stars -- Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Amare Stoudemire
8 – occasional all-stars -- Tony Parker, Josh Smith
7 – Fans think they should be all-stars -- Marc Gasol, Stephen Curry
6 – Average starter
5 – weak starter, good bench guy
4 – average bench guy
3 – weak bench guy
2 – end of bench guy
1 – 10 day contract
So where would we rate the Raptors players? Here's my list -- even if you dont agree with it, I doubt there's much room for more than a point or two of argument in either direction.
Amir Johnson: 6 or 7
Bargnani: 6 or 7
Calderon: 6. He was a 7 in his best year.
Barbosa: 6
Kleiza 5 or 6
Ed Davis: 5
DeMar DeRozan: 5
Reggie: 4 or 5
James Johnson: 4 or 5
Julian wright: 4 or 5
Joey Dorsey: 4
Sonny weems: 4
Bayless: 3 or 4
Alexis Ajinca: 3
So, yeah, not that much talent on the team. At least most of them have room for improvement...
