I saw the game versus Valencia, what I noticed that referee was playing dirty games with Jonas, 3 out of 5 fouls were far more than questionable (all those fouls were called by same ref, while other ref didn't even had any interest on most of them), Valencia haven't had tall players in the front court and it was huge advantage of Rytas (a team with most rebounds in the league). Yes, I may be a drama queen, but that's what I noticed watching the game, referees ruined it and won it for Spanish team.
There are dishonourable refs in the NBA. It is not outside the realm of possibility there are shady refs in Europe.

    • Actually, there's not shady refs, there is shady people.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got threatened before the game.

        • C'mon guys enough with these conspiracy theories, LOL.

The fact of the matter is Jonas is still an inexperienced kid in mens basketball. He still fails to shift his game on defensive end when the refs aren't allowing much contact, and therefore fouls out quickly.

I do feel like this is one of those areas where he might improve vastly under NBA coaching.

I wonder if it is more a function of uneven reffing? Also, as you say JV's failing to shift his style when the Refs tighten up. Just a learning process. At first I wondered about the reference "Under NBA coaching" since it seems he has been getting great coaching, but your are probably right about the availability of Coaching resources in the NBA i.e. more staff available to work with him/video footage etc.

                • Does a player foul out after 5 fouls, or 6 fouls in EuroLeague?

                    In Europe it's 5 fouls.

                      Thanks. That's what I thought.

Jonas playing with 4 fouls seems like a good sign (but I don't know if those were early fouls or not).

The 3 rebounds seem like an anomaly, so I'm not concerned about that for one game.

I won't need to see the doctor about renewing my Viagra* prescription if he is able to do the same in the NBA.

Man the efficiency he plays at. All those numbers in that amount of time is so intriguing. I'm one of those knicky knackers that say stats aren't everything, but man that is fairly impressive.

Fouls are down. Stuffing the stat sheet. Really impressive. And just so tough.
