it depends, if it was his fault (or partially his fault) he didn't get the shot (for example, a pass was intended for him, but he didn't connect, or he gets ready for a shot, but gets called for an offensive foul), or he has a shot, hesitates, and passes it off to someone else, then it counts as a potential shot not capitalized on.
Sure. But having a shot (say, a midrange jumper) and passing it off to someone else, if it is early in the shot clock and the team should work for a better look before settling for a jumper, is the smart move.

Some players could learn that lesson. JV is a consummate teammate and almost never forces his offence when he's further from the basket, outside his comfort zone. Does not mean the team should not force-feed him when he has a mismatch.

Then somebody better capitalize on a better shot, It's similar to game 1 when he missed 7 tip-ins in a row, he got a free pass because his teammate missed the initial shot (had his teammate not missed the shot, he wouldn't have had to worry about it), and sometimes, you do need the quick shot.

He gets a free pass on missed tip ins because he's generating a free possession with the offensive board in the first place. A missed tip in is not detrimental to the team's efforts. A missed initial shot is a use of that possession, unless you are lucky enough to have a beast like JV on the boards to save your butt several times a game.

That's why that initial shot is worth taking the time to invest in. Run offensive sets, work to get a layup or a look in the paint via post up. If that fails because the defence collapses, use the opportunity to get an open three. If that fails, you have time to settle for a midrange jumper. Then pray JV saves your butt on the boards, because so far that's the only saving grace for this offence this series.

but like I said, if we try to get all those things like you mentioned and it results in a crazy rushed shot, or a turnover, then it was not worth it.

Well, sure. But by that logic we should jack a midrange jumper every possession.

In the long run, the balance of efficiency supports offences that attempt to get a good look before settling for a mediocre or bad one.

Well, it could be like fighting fire with fire, him not passing to his teammates would be a huge punch in their faces for all the times they looked off him.

Really Dan, he's just playing you, not actually having a discussion. Pretty clear that even if JV hit 8 of 8, peanutwoozle would wonder why he didn't step outside and hit some three's instead of wasting his shot on 2 pointers.

No, I would wonder why he didn't disown his teammates for not passing it to him more.

Who do you think he is, DeMarcus Cousins?

It would be a good way to take out his frustration, this nice-guy approach doesn't seem to be working.

Well, everyone here knew it would be JV's fault, somehow, at least in your eyes.

just like everyone knew JV should be completely off the hook for everything, at least in your eyes, and many of the other beliebers.
