Remember that time when people wanted to start Biyombo over him??
I remember when people wanted him traded so we could sign Biyombo instead.

Not if Casey has anything to say about it.

              • Not sure what Jonas has to do to get more involvement in the offense.

Watching DeRozan chuck away is getting really, REALLY stale.

They need to run that pick and roll with Derozan/JV on the Heat over and over and over again. Whiteside is forced to pick between stopping Derozan's 8 foot shot or staying with Val. If he goes for Derozan even when he doesn't pass JV is by himself for the offensive board.

Who was worried about JV vs Whiteside? JV 17/25 over first two games.
I was more worried we wouldnt involve JV and if Miami was dictating play Whiteside would "win" the matchup because he'll produce more, like he did in the first half last night. Almost all of Whiteside's productive plays came when they managed to pull JV away from him, and JV wasn't getting opportunities to attack him on the other end.

DD/JV and Lowry/JV screen and rolls have been effective. Run them more. Pass JV when he seals his man off 3-4 times a game. Run a couple more post-ups. They don't even really have to change anything at all offensively other than just involve him more. And they are all good team plays.

                      • Jonas is actually getting an extra 2 shots per game over the regular season, so there's that. DD unfortunately is taking nearly 3 more shots per game. Try to figure this math out:

                        DD 20.4 FGA 33% FG%
                        JV 11 FGA 54% FG%

To add to this. DeMar has missed 122 shots. JV has taken 99 shots.

And how many of JV's shots are a result of offensive rebounds/put-backs?

                              35 putbacks.

So he's taken 64 shots, in 8 games, off passes. He's taking 2.1 shots per game off passes from Lowry, 1.6 shots per game off passes from DeMar, and no one else sets him up for more than 1 shot per game.

Yikes. You looked it up once before - how many shots do Lowry and DD get off passes from JV?
