  • DD, ED and our 1st is way too steep for a player who's been a 3rd option his whole career. Harden's a very talented player, but he's not worth gutting our roster for.

I'd be willing to give up DD and ED (maybe throw in a 2nd round pick), but there's no way I'm adding our lottery pick. Not in a million years.

C'mon, the guy is 22 and will be entering his 4th year in the league, you can't call this "his whole career".

There is absolutely no way Harden would not perform if signed by the Raps. The guy is a stud. And sure, Bargs and JV are not KD and Westbrook, but I'm not sure he'd be double teamed in TO either.

BUT : I agree that DD, ED and 1st is too much.

Did I say anything that wasn't factual?

How do we know that Harden could handle being the primary focus of opposing defences? How do we know he can handle the pressure of being a number 1 guy. When we lose games, he'll be one of the first players under the microscope. How do we know he can handle such pressure in one of the largest media markets in the league?

You could get a better player than Harden at that price in my opinion.

          • I think it's a lot to give up, but if I had to rate Harden among all active SG's I think I'd consider him 5th best after Wade, Kobe, Joe Johnson, and Manu Ginobili. Eric Gordon would be in the list too if he wasn't often injured. And I would take Harden over guys like Ellis and Martin. The thing about this list is that my top 4 consists of some very aging vets who's skills will diminish over time, and we haven't had a good crop of SG's in recent drafts - which could mean Harden could one day become a top SG in the league.

The one skill that I really like about Harden is that he can play PG. That would give the team far more flexibility to get a PG that does not have to be the main facilitator which has become the norm in the league.

I would seriously think about doing this deal even though we'd be losing 3 really good assets. Although I'd prefer to give up our 2013 pick (protected) instead of our 2012 pick. And I'm sure that could be negotiated on (assuming Harden would even want to play in Toronto).

            • I'm not a big advocate for trading down, but as I read more about Royce White I can't help but think he could successfully surplant JJ as our starting SF without being a weaker defender and being a much better scorer.

given the choice i would like mayo more than gay, but gay more than harden. with memphis its all going to be money and gay will give them the better package of picks and young cheap players. jj, amir/ed and 2013 pick with the 2 2nd rounders from this year maybe.

Which if this wasn't a basketball forum. People would think I was referring to a new viral porn video.

                      • Gay hasn't done anything in the playoffs to warrant throwing the house at. No one on the team really has, but you get my point.

                        • Well, you have to make it to the playoffs before we can even discuss that and last time I checked this guy is the starting sf on a playoff team.

If the Grizzle are stupid enough to go for it; I'd be completely on board. We're basically giving up C+ potential for an A- player.
