The only guys in the league averaging 10 rebounds per game are Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, Andrew Bynum, DeMarcus Cousins, Kris Humphries, Blake Griffin, and Pau Gasol. I do not think Ed Davis is in the class of any of those players.

A five game stretch is easy to manipulate the numbers with one big game. ED had a game with 14 rebounds in one of those games. Take out the one big game and suddently he is averaging 6.4 rebounds over 4 games.

    Takes a look through his game log in March. Rebounds in each game: 3, 12, 7, 2, 5, 10, 4, 3, 2, 12, 9, 1, 7, 4, 4, 8, 1. He has 10 of 17 games with 5 rebounds or less.

An NBA season is 82 games (or 66 this year) - not 5 games.

We'll have to agree to disagree but I stand by the assertion I made in another thread that ED is nothing more than a solid back up who can put up some crazy numbers every 3rd game or so.
those players play about 15 more mins than Ed. Ed Davis becoming a Kris Humphries type player is not out the question.

      On one game? Alright.

Let me know when the NBA goes from 82 game seasons to 1. Wasn't your claim he can be a 10-10 guy? When I read that I assumed it was over 82 games - not 1.

Considering out of approximately 450 NBA players only 7 (or 1.55%) average over 10 rebounds per game and only 28 of 450 (or 6.22%) average over 8 rebounds per game - I rest my case.

Again, we'll have to agree to disagree. But for what it is worth, I'd really.... I mean REALLY.... love to be wrong.
Capable of getting a double double and averaging a double double are completely different things. When you look at the numbers it's crazy to think that so few guys can maintain that type of production. If the Raptors have a double double guy on the roster I believe it's in JV and we're still a couple years away from seeing him average one.

On the topic of one game Dre got 17 against the Pacers before maybe he's capable of joining that club! lol

The difference is Kris Humphries goes balls out every minute he is on the floor. *EDIT* And as FoxMachine mentioned, Hump is also jacked something that I do not think ED will ever be.

Also, ED would need to average nearly 40 minutes per game to get his 10 rebounds whereas Humphries gets his 11 in under 35 minutes.

to do that he'd have to have an ounce of skill on the offensive end. Kris humphries has and has always had much better coordination than ed does. again, ed cant hit a wide open 5 ft shot.. in the best case scenerio i could maybe compare him to becoming a reggie evans and just rebound.. and do it well.. but still he needs to add a ton of muscle

I don't think that comparison is out of the question but Ed would have to put some serious weight on to do that as they have completely different builds. Ed is a better shot blocker and I like that he's a lefty alot but his energy is no where near that of Kris Humphries.

No doubt. I am presuming this topic of ED being a 10-10 guy was based on a full season - not a game here or there.

there is no contest between amir and ed... amir has 100% more hustle, he rebounds, blocks, and can score around the bucket under duress, not to mention he has a face up game too.. we dont need ed.. imo his only value to us is if we can use him in a trade for a good return
have to cut ed some slack, sophomore slump, amir has been in the league three times as long. he was an utter piece of shit before coming to toronto and still wasn't that good his first year here.

in other words amir has been around the block and ed is still learning the ropes.

one thing is for sure they either have to commit to one or deport em both.

I'm leaning toward last, but, if I wasn't i'm keepin ed.

                    21.6.

So if my math is correct, he'd need to average 39.27 minutes per game to get his 10 rebounds per game based on those 17 games in March.
                    ..so you're saying it's possible?

Nice to see the Raptors hang in when the game could have been a blow out.

I feel really good about the direction of the team under Casey.

I've said it a number of times this year (and it is not an original thought as many others have said as well) but I cannot wait to see what he can do with a talented roster.... I mean even an average roster talent wise.

+ Long lefty who can score around the basket. Slim build, must add strength.

+ Quality athlete who can block shots and rebound. Jumper a question mark.

+ Good tools, but remains raw. Needs to develop post game, ball skills.

Davis had a very promising rookie season after bouncing back from preseason knee surgery. Although still raw and having an undeveloped body, the bouncy lefty showed great finishing skill by shooting 57.6 percent from the floor and finishing ninth among power forwards in rebound rate. Davis also blocked shots (12th among power forwards), although his lack of muscle was repeatedly exposed in a Raptors frontcourt that lacked a tough guy.

Although Davis shot well, he didn't shoot often -- he was just 65th among the league's 70 power forwards in usage rate. One suspects he can do more, as he had respectable percentages on shots away from the basket area, so this wasn't a case of just being a dunk specialist.

Nonetheless, his high shooting percentage and low turnover rate as a rookie suggest he may not advance much in the next year or two -- most rookies with that statistical profile make little or no progress in Year 2. It is likely those numbers will regress to the mean, so even if he develops in other areas his PER is likely to stay in the same neighborhood.
Just some notes from a professional. Rebounds Per 40 Minutes 11.5.

i would be pissed if we got rid of amir and kept ed.. i just dont see ed being as good or good at affecting games the way amir does.. i dont see ed having a high ceiling.. but if we keep him, i hope im wrong

Sophomore slump could be playing a factor, lack of training camp, new system, no set roll.... The list could go on for reasons why he's struggling but he's not helping himself with the effort he's putting into it either. I hope he bounces back and think he's capable of producing more but this year was a serious let down IMO for him.

Amir's situation was completely different playing for a veteran team in a win now mode. Ed can barely get minutes on a annual lottery team so I think that's a tough comparison. Both needed minutes to showcase but the hand was stacked against Amir while Ed won't even put enough effort to pull his chair closer to the table to look at his cards.
