  • Frustration.

I applaud Amir Johnson. I applaud Mickael Pietrus. Frustration got the best of Amir, and although he got a little TOO hot (likely fined for the mouth-piece throwing), it's about time someone got intense. Especially just the way this team is playing, and the disrespect of refs, thank you Amir. If this was a home game, your fans would stand. I can't wait to hear what he says.

He is a guy you don't expect to over-react, especially Amir Johnson react in general... Mickael Pietrus stepped in there, and did a job as a veteran on the court, unlike Derozan and Calderon who stayed back and watched.

This is just my opinion, I'm a very intense person. I don't believe in soft, especially on the court. I'm leading the district in technical fouls (good and bad thing), because I don't like disrespect, and you'd better be fair calling our game. I do 'talk' on the court though, seems like everyone thinks it's un-sportsman like to talk, it's just basketball.

Coach Casey did a poor job defending Amir post-game. God Casey, you're cockin' it up.

Players are tired of losing, things are going to boil up again if changes are not going to start happening.

Starts from the top. Players are doing all they can, there's not a single hint of the players rebelling towards the coaches. Of course though, there is that 1 player cocking everything up.

What I found weird about the exchange (aside from the overrreaction by Amir ofcourse) is that the ref wouldn't allow him to take the ball. They always allow guys to do their ball rub (sounds pornographic I know)... yet for some reason this guy was having none of it.

Imagine you would have to put up with Bargnani every game. I wonder why Amir doesn't "loose his cool" EVERY game

              A huge plus 1.

I like Amir was honest after the game. He said it was childish, blew up, lost his cool, etc. etc.

But I agree 100%. Guys do little things in the course of a game. Touching and rubbing the ball at the start of jump balls, entering games, during free throws, when fouls are called is, in my opinion, stupid but to each there own. I think doing chin ups on the rim is stupid too but Wade does it every game. I think this is a situation where the ref in just handing him the ball for a second diffuses tension or hostility. Now, Amir's reaction was totally inappropriate but the referee's initial reaction is just as petty and childish.

like i said in another thread... wtf is there to defend?, clearly there was heated discussion under the basket, and you can tell by caseys reaction when the ref gives him an explanation, that he's like "wtf were you thinking amir".

I dont understand how saying he lost his mind is such a bad thing when thats clearly what happened.

AND if you watched the video clearly derozan is in the frame just after Pietrus, Id say thats not too bad considering he's nearly in the backcourt during the freethrows.

We're going to see more stuff like this if the losing continues. It's not healthy to suppress frustration. Eventually, it pops.

In times like this its good to have Lowry you can really see his disdain for Bargnani... the entire team is starting to boil in some ways this is a good thing you gotta taste rock bottom failure to get better so you don't go back there once you start pulling it together and getting Ws.

As hot seat situations go, the blame game inevitably comes down to the question of whether the team is failing because of the quality of the roster itself or because of how the players on the roster are performing. Coaches are always easier to fire than players, so the latter scenario doesn't typically bode well for the play-calling types.

So when Raptors team president and general manager Bryan Colangelo went out of his way in an interview on the team's network during Sunday's 102-83 loss at the Clippers on Sunday to make it clear that a lack of talent wasn't the problem, then went on to make repeated references to a lack of "attention to detail" and "focus," it was fair to wonder what sort of message that sent about Casey's future. Yet two people with knowledge of the Raptors' thinking who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue told USA TODAY Sports that Casey is not in jeopardy at the moment, and the more relevant question is how long it will be until Colangelo makes a roster move that helps his own situation.

While Casey is under contract through next season, Colangelo's deal expires after this season and he's well aware that he needs to turn this tide. To that end, the Raptors are dangling seventh-year center and 2006 No. 1 pick Andrea Bargnani as trade bait but don't have any takers thus far.

The Lakers have been reported as a possible destination for Bargnani as part of a possible deal involving forward Pau Gasol, but the big man is up for discussion in any and all trade talks so long as the potential pieces coming Toronto's are good enough that they could help right this ship. Point guard Jose Calderon has made it clear that he would like to be traded, and Colangelo continues to explore the possibilities there as well. A Raptors trade of some significance, more than likely, is on the horizon.

As for Colangelo's pointed comments – made both on television and in print – it appears his intent was more to rattle the cages of his players than it was to foreshadow a coaching change. Time will tell if it worked, though the Raptors have a prime chance to turn it around considering five of their next six games are at home (against Brooklyn, Dallas, Houston, Detroit and Orlando with a road game at Cleveland).

Like Colangelo, Casey's fate is expected to be determined at the end of the season. It wasn't too long ago, of course, that their bosses were thrilled with Casey's ability to establish a defense-first culture and take the winning percentage from .268 the season prior to Casey's arrival to .348 in his debut campaign.
